Dr Yasser Mahmoudi Larimi is an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Low Carbon Energy Systems with the School of Engineering at The University of Manchester. Before this, he was an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at Queen’s University Belfast. He completed a 3-year postdoctoral appointment at the University of Cambridge working on combustion noise analysis for Rolls-Royce gas turbines. He has an international profile in clean and sustainable energy development through studying fundamentals and designs of low-carbon thermal and power systems, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. He has given over 20 invited talks at conferences, universities and industrial events. Dr Larimi chairs the UK ‘Turbulent Heat Transfer’ National Group within the UK Fluids Network. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is an Associate Editor of International Journal of Thermal Sciences. He is an invited author of a book on Convective Heat Transfer in Porous Media, and the author of over 120 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications.

Dr. George Z. Kyzas is a Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the International Hellenic University (IHU). He was born in Drama (Greece) and studied Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees from the same Department expertised in Chemical Technology. He is now working at the Department of Chemistry (International Hellenic University, Kavala, Greece), being the Head of the Department (since 2019). He is also Director/Chair of the MSc in Cosmetic Chemistry (since 2021). His research interests include the synthesis and characterization of various (majorly adsorbent) materials (inorganic, aluminates, polymers, graphene, activated carbons, agro-food residues, nanomaterials, CNTs, etc.) for environmental applications (wastewater treatment). Dr. Entchev holds B. Eng. degree in thermal and nuclear engineering, M. Sc. degree in applied mathematics and a doctorate for studies of time series, stochastic analysis, and simulation and optimization of large energy systems. His primary research interests as a professor and senior scientists lie in the implementation of novel advanced technologies and performance optimization techniques aimed at lowering the greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the efficiency and sustainability of conventional and renewable energy systems. Dr. Entchev has chaired and has been invited speaker at numerous International scientific conferences; he chairs many multidisciplinary research committees and working groups dealing with the environment, new energy technologies development and implementation. Dr. Mohammad Shahidehpour is a University Distinguished Professor, Bodine Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He has over 40 years of experience with power system operation, planning, and control and has completed several major projects for the electric energy sector. His project on Perfect Power Systems has converted the entire IIT Campus to an islandable microgrid. Dr. Shahidehpour was the recipient of several technical awards including of the IEEE Burke Hayes Award for his research on hydrokinetics, IEEE/PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award, IEEE/PES Ramakumar Family Renewable Energy Excellence Award, IEEE/PES Douglas M. Staszesky Distribution Automation Award, and the Edison Electric Institute’s Power Engineering Educator Award. He has co-authored 6 books and over 800 technical papers on electric power system operation and planning, and served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. Dr. Shahidehpour is the recipient of the 2009 honorary doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. He is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), and an elected member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Dr. Shahidehpour is a foreign Fellow of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering and a foreign Fellow of the Iran National Academy of Sciences.He is also listed as a highly cited researcher on the Web of Science (ranked in the top 1% by citations demonstrating significant influence among his peers).

Since 2007 Anna Pinnarelli is Assistant Professor at the DIMEG of University of Calabria, Italy. Prof. Qing Wang received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2000. Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State in 2002, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University. Among other awards, he has received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award and Penn State Faculty Scholar Medal in Engineering. His research interests include the development of ferroelectric polymers, electroactive polymers, and dielectric polymers and nanocomposites for energy harvesting and storage. Prof. Wang is a Fellow of AAAS and IEEE.

Prof. Yang Wenming is currently the Dean’s Chair Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. He is also the editor-in-chief of Energy Engineering and Associate Editor for the ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbine and Power.His research interests include: development of Lower Temperature Combustion (LTC) Technologies, fuel design and its application in internal combustion engines, combustion and emissions control of biomass boilers and coal boilers etc. He has authored/co-authored more than 370 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences, of which, more than 300 papers are SCI index, and most of his papers are published in top 10% journals. His papers have been cited by more than 15600 times with a H-index of 64. Prof. Hongwei Wu is an Associate Professor in the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Scienceat University of Hertfordshire (UH). Dr. Lin Chen is now a full professor in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and jointly at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He is currently one Board member of Experts Commission of China Energy Society. He obtained his B.E and PhD from Peking University. He was previously a JST-CREST and JSPS Research Fellow and an Assistant Professor in Tohoku University, Japan. His current research topics include energy resources and equipment, supercritical fluids, Hydrogen energy, and advanced measurement technologies. He has authored over 200 well-cited papers and 20 patents and 7 chapters, 3 books, including the most famous one on energy conversion (“Handbook of Research on Advancements in Supercritical Fluids Applications for Sustainable Energy Systems”, IGI Global, 2021, 821 pages). Dr. Zijun Zhang received his B.Eng. degree in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2008, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. His is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Data Science and Associate Director of Centre for Systems Informatics Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China. His research focuses on machine learning and computational intelligence methods as well as their applications in the renewable energy, facility energy management, rail transportation systems, and manufacturing processes. Juan M Gers obtained his undergraduate degree as Electrical Engineer from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia in 1977. In 1981 he finished a Master’s Degree in Power Systems Studies at the University of Salford in England, and his doctorate with research in distribution systems and automatization at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland in 1998.Dr. Gers founded GERS in 1981, an electrical engineering consultant group with operations in the USA, Colombia, Mexico, and Chile. Philip W. T. Pong received a B.Eng. from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2002 with 1st class honours. Then he obtained a PhD in engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2005. Prof. Hanshen Li received his B.S.E. degree in Electric Power Engineering and Automation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Shanghai, China, in 2016, and the M.E. degree in Information, Production and Systems Engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan in 2017, and M.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from SJTU in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), Beijing, China in 2023. Dr. Irie joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) of the Japanese Government in 1979 after the graduation from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor of Law degree. He earned a Master of Science degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1988 and a Doctorate in Energy Science from Kyoto University in 2002. He had worked mainly in energy and trade policy, including a posting at the Japanese Embassy in Canberra, Australia, and in policy planning and studies at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) and other divisions. After retiring as Director-General of the Training Institute of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2008, he worked at the University of Tokyo as Professor in charge of research and education on nuclear policy and law until 2012. From 2012 to 2018, he worked as General Manager of Research at APERC as well as Senior Research Fellow of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ). In 2018, he was promoted to President of APERC and Managing Director of IEEJ. He took up his current position in April 2020 at the independence of APERC. Invited Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra and a Researcher at the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics (ADAI-LAETA). Obtained a PhD degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Coimbra. For the last 10 years, worked on around 10 R&D projects (in collaboration with private companies) related to i) cogeneration systems for residential applications and ii) carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies.

Alireza Ghasempour has been a faculty member in the Information and Communications Technology department at the University of Applied Science and Technology for more than 10 years. He has extensive experience in research, teaching, and executive positions. His areas of interest include smart grids, the Internet of Things, machine learning, deep learning, optimization techniques, and wireless heterogeneous networks. He has published two book chapters, several papers in peer-reviewed journals, IEEE and international conferences

Faculty member in Facultad de Ingenieria (Udelar - Uruguay) for more than 10 years. Chemical Engineering holding an Msc. degree who recently finished her PhD. The thesis of her master’s degree was focused on electrocatalysts for low temperature fuel cells, whereas her PhD thesis centered in the optimal design of hybrid energy storage systems and green-hydrogen production schemes. Her ongoing research is focused on the analysis of P2X systems from a process design perspective. She is the co-author of three book chapters and several papers in peer-review journals/conferences.
