João Manuel R. S. Tavares graduated in Mechanical Engineering atthe Universidade do Porto, Portugal in 1992. He also earnedhis M.Sc. degree and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering fromthe Universidade do Porto in 1995 and 2001, and attained his Habilitation in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. He is a senior researcher at the Instituto de Ciência e Inovação em Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia Industrial (INEGI) and Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEMec) of the Faculdade de Engenharia daUniversidade do Porto (FEUP). João Tavares is co-editor of more than 75 books, co-author of more than 50 book chapters, 650 articles in international and national journals and conferences, and 3 international and 3 national patents. He has been a committee member of several international and national journals and conferences, is co-founder and co-editor of the book series “Lecture Notes in Computational Vision and Biomechanics” published by Springer, and founder and Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging & Visualization” published by Taylor & Francis, Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering” published by Taylor & Francis, and co-founder and co-chair of the international conference series: Comp IMAGE, ECCOMAS Vip IMAGE, ICCEBS, and Bio Dental. Additionally, he has been (co-)supervisor of several MSc and Ph.D. thesis and supervisor of several post-doc projects and has participated in many scientific projects both as a researcher and as a scientific coordinator. His main research areas include computational vision, medical imaging, computational mechanics, scientific visualization, human-computer interaction, and new product development.

Dr. Mariofanna Milanova is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at UA Little Rock and has been a faculty member since 2001. She received an M.Sc. in Expert Systems and Artificial Intelligence and Ph.D. in Engineering and Computer Science from the Technical University, Sofia, Bulgaria. Dr. Milanova conducted post-doctoral research in visual perception at the University of Paderborn, Germany. Dr. Milanova has extensive academic experience at various academic and research organizations worldwide. Dr. Milanova is an IEEE Senior Member, Fulbright U.S. Scholar, and NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute University Ambassador. Dr. Milanova’s work is supported by NSF, NIH, DARPA, DoD, Homeland Security, NATO, Nokia Bell Lab, NJ, USA, and NOKIA, Finland. She has published more than 120 publications, over 53 journal papers, 35 book chapters, and numerous conference papers. She also has two patents.

Xinde Li earned his Ph.D. in Control Theory and Control Engineering, from Department of Control Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China, in 2007. Afterwards, he joined School of Automation, Southeast University, Nanjing, China, where he is currently a professor. He was an Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences elected in 2020 and a cover person of Scientific Chinese in the same year. He was a vice director of Intelligent Robot Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence from 2017, a vice director of Intelligent Products and Industry Working Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence from 2019. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Robot, Machine Perception and Understanding, and human-robot interaction, etc. He has undertaken many national key projects, i.e. National 863 key project, JKW key project, etc., and has published more than 80 high-quality papers and 2 books, and owns 17 national invention patents. He also won many prizes, i.e. international contribution prize, Scientific and Technological Progress Award in CAA, etc.

Nicola Santoro is Distinguished Research Professor of Computer Science at Carleton University. He received the Lurea degree from the University of Pisa (summa cum laude) and the PhD from the University of Waterloo. After appointments at the University of Pisa and the University of Ottawa, he joined the School of Computer Science at Carleton University, where he is still now. During this time he has also been Professore Straordinario at the University of Bari, and held short visiting research appointments at several universities and institutes (including Lawrence Berkeley Labs, U. AixMarseille, Macquarie U., ETH-Zurich, ISI-Kolkata, U. of Pisa, Kyushu U.). Involved in distributed computing from the very beginning of the field, his research has focused on the algorithmic aspects, contributing seminal works, especially on the impact of structural knowledge on computability. He has pioneered the research on distributed computing by “mobile computational entities” (robots, agents, drones, sensors), focusing in particular on the computational and algorithmic issues arising in systems of autonomous mobile robots. His team has been one of the first to investigate temporal dynamics in distributed environments (e.g., arising in ad-hoc wireless networks, social networks, etc). In these fields, he has authored more than 350 papers with more than 140 co-authors. He is the author of the book “Design and Analysis of Distributed Algorithms” (Wiley 2007), co-author of the books “Distributed Computing by Oblivious Mobile Robots” (Morgan & Claypool 2012) and “Distributed Computing by Mobile Entities” (Springer 2019), and co-editor of other 14 books. He started the main theoretical conferences in distributed computing: ACM Conf. on Principles of Distributed Computing (1982), the EATCS Symposium on Distributed Computing (1985), and SIROCCO (1994), as well as the algorithmic conferences WADS (1989) and FUN (1998). He has been a committee member of over 90 international conferences, several of them as Chair. For his pioneering contributions, he has been awarded in 2010 the “Prize for Innovation in Distributed Computing”, the first recipient. His current research interests are on the computational power of distributed environments arising at the micro- and nano-level (e.g., programmable particles, population protocols, and nano-robotic swarms).

Raffaele Carli received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering with honours in 2002 and the Ph.D. in Electrical and Information Engineering in 2016, both from Politecnico di Bari, Italy. From 2003 to 2004, he was a Reserve Officer with Italian Navy. From 2004 to 2012, he worked as System and Control Engineer and Technical Manager for a space and defense multinational company. Dr. Carli is currently a Senior Assistant Professor in Automatic Control at Politecnico di Bari, and is qualified for access to a position of associate professor in the Control Engineering field since 2021. He is the technical responsible for the Decision and Control Laboratory (coordinated by prof. Mariagrazia Dotoli) at the Department of Electric and Information Engineering (DEI) of the Polytechnic of Bari (http://dclab.poliba.it/). He is an author of over 80 printed international publications. His area of expertise is the development of decision and control techniques for the modelling, optimization, management, and control of complex and large-scale systems. His research interests include the formalization, simulation, and implementation of decentralized, distributed, and hierarchical optimization and control algorithms, to be applied on distributed systems (cooperative and noncooperative), multi-agent systems, and networked systems in smart frameworks such as for example the industry and energy fields. He was the Young Career Chair of the 2017 IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, the Pubblication Co-chair of the 2020 IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, and the General Co-chair of 7th International Conference on Renewable Energy and Conservation (ICREC 2022). He is the Finance Chair and Special Session Chair of 2024 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (August 26-30, Bari - Italy). He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANS. ON AUTOMATION SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING and the IEEE TRANS. ON SYSTEMS, MAN, AND CYBERNETICS. He is a member of the conference editorial board for the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMC), a member of the international program committee of over 30 international conferences, and a guest editor for special issues on international journals.

Ching-Chih Tsai is currently a life distinguished Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), Taichung, Taiwan, where he served the 2012-2014 department chairman. He received his Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA, 1991. He has been elevated to Fellow of IEEE, IET, CACS, RST and TFSA. Dr. Tsai has published more than 600 refereed journal and conference papers, and seven patents in the fields of intelligent control and robotics, where he received many prestigious awards and honors from IEEE and numerous professional societies, and many best conference paper awards technically supported by IEEE. He served as the two-term President of Chinese Automatic Control Society (CACS) from 2012-2015 and two-term President of Robotics Society of Taiwan (RST) from 2016 to 2019, and the Vice Dean and Dean of R&D Office, NCHU, from 2019 to 2021. In recent years, he has served associate editors of IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems and International Journal of Fuzzy Systems. Moreover, he has served as the President of International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) since September 2021, a BoG member and the associate VP for conferences and meetings of IEEE Systems, Man Cybernetics Society (SMCS), the chair of Distinguished Lecture Program of IEEE SMCS in 2022. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the Editor in Chief of a new international robotics journal called “International Journal of iRobotics”. His current interests include advanced nonlinear control methods, deep model predictive control, fuzzy control, neural-network control, deep learning, broad learning and reinforcement learning, and intelligent learning control methods with their applications to advanced mobile robotics, intelligent service robotics, intelligent mechatronics, intelligent automation, smart machinery, smart agriculture, and smart semiconductor packaging.

Michael Short is a professor of control engineering and systems informatics at Teesside University in the UK and leads the multidisciplinary Centre for Sustainable Engineering. He holds a BEng degree in electronic and electrical engineering (1999, Sunderland) and a Ph.D. degree in real-time robot control (2003, Sunderland). Michael’s research interests encompass aspects of applied control engineering and systems informatics applied to smart energy systems and robotics. He has authored over 160 reviewed publications in international conferences and journals, has received over 1400 citations, and has won six best paper awards. He currently has an h-index of 22 and an i-10 index of 40. He has supervised six Ph.D. completions and is the investigator on numerous completed and ongoing funded research projects. He is an associate editor for the International Journal of Energies, a full member of the IET, and a fellow of the HEA.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Habil. Natasa Zivic is professor for information and coding theory and real-time image processing at University of applied sciences in Leipzig, Germany. She is a researcher in area of robust real-time image and message communications with application in artificial intelligence, as well as security expert in a car industry. She graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Automatics, University of Belgrade in 1999 and defended her Magister Thesis in 2002. She defended her doctoral thesis at University of Siegen in 2007, as well as her postdoctoral thesis (habilitation) in 2013. Prof. Zivic takes part at international conferences and journals and works as a paper reviewer and editor of scientific journals. She is an author of 9 books, more than 100 conference and journal papers and 3 (2 German and 1 USA) patents.

Sanchia Goonewardene qualified from Birmingham Medical School with Honours in Clinical Science and a BMedSc Degree in Medical Genetics and Molecular Medicine. She has a specific interest in academia during her spare time, with over 845 publications to her name with 2 papers as the number 1 most cited in fields (Biomedical Library), and has significantly contributed to the Urological Academic World- she has since added a section to the European Association of Urology Congress on Prostate Cancer Survivorship and Supportive Care and is an associate member of an EAU guidelines panel on Chronic Pelvic Pain. She has been the UK lead in an EAU led study on Salvage Prostatectomy. Her background in research entails an MPhil, the work from which went on to be drawn up as a document for PCUK and then, NICE endorsed. She gained funding from the Wellcome Trust for her Research Elective. She is also an alumnus of the Urology Foundation, which sponsored a trip to USANZ trainee week. Bernhard Irrgang, born 1953, professor for the philosophy of technology at the TU Dresden. Professor Simeon Simoff is currently the Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics at the Western Sydney University. Simeon was previously a Professor of Information Technology at the University of Technology, Sydney. Prior to UTS he held academic positions at the University of Sydney, the Middle East Technical University, Ecole Polytechnique - University of Nantes and Istanbul Technical University. Mohamed Ali is a 6th-year Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland- College Park. He received an undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from George Mason University. Before his doctoral work, Mohamed was a National Institute of Health fellow, where he investigated the cause of obesity in rodents. His doctoral work focuses on vision-guided robotics for industrial automation. Beyond his work, Mohamed has research interests in medical robotics for automating medical procedures. Esther Chávez-Miranda is an Assistant Professor. She holds a Ph.D. in Management and Business Administration, devoting her research to the application of Revenue Management to the hotel sector, and has received the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize (2005) from the University of Seville. She has taught Revenue Management to postgraduate students since 2008 and centers her research on this subject. She is the founder of the Expert and Diploma on Hotel Revenue Management at the University of Seville (2014 and 2015, respectively) at that university in Spain. Her research interests are focused on Revenue Management in general and its particular application to services and hotel organizations.

Dr. Ting Yuan is a Sensor Fusion scientist for autonomous systems. He holds a professorship at SEIEE of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He had been a Senior Research Scientist at the Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA and Principal Tech Lead for Autonomous Driving on China situations within the Autonomous Driving Department. He graduated from ECE department of the University of Connecticut, Storrs, USA. His field of endeavor lies in detection, classification, and tracking of moving/static objects using information from the camera, Radar, and Lidar systems, as well as data fusion for the multi-sensor systems. He holds a Professorshio (associate research line) at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University.He has more than 15 years research/working experience in Object Tracking, Sensor Fusion and Localization for aerospace and automotive applications. He has 40+ publications and 10+ approved/pending patents. Dr. Ting Yuan is a senior member of IEEE and an editorial board member of ISIF. Prof. Univ. Dr. Eur Ing Ionel STARETU: graduated the Faculty of TCM (Technology of Mechanical Constructions) of Transilvania University of Brasov (1983). He won the title of Doctor in Engineering, with specialization in Industrial Robots - Robotics, in 1995. Specializations: in Tribology (Transilvania University -1990), in Robotics and Productics (the INSTN Saclay, France-1992/1993), Organization Management (Transilvania University and IAI-1999 / 2000), Quality Management (2003), Quality Audit (2004) at Transilvania University. He has been working since 1985 to the Department of Product Design and Robotics at Transilvania University of Brasov. He published 5 books(one in USA: Gripping Systems, Derc Publishing House, 2011), 5 didactic papers, and more than 225 scientific articles in the country and abroad (SUA, Italy, France, Germany, Hungary, Turkey, Tunisia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Japan, India, China, etc.). Fatemeh Davoodi is an associate scientist at Kiel University, Germany with an interest in artificial intelligence applications for solving problems in ambiguous and uncertain environments. She did her bachelor, master, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at K. N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran in 2013, 2015, and 2019 and then she moved to Kiel University as a scientist in 2020. Besides her main research area in nano-optics, she is interested in a multidisciplinary project with the main subject of artificial intelligence. She contributed to several multidisciplinary projects such as the development of semantic interoperability (Semantic Reasoning) using artificial intelligence, using data mining for fraud detection, and deep learning applications in nano-optics. The Outcome of her research until now are several high-level publications and invited review papers.

Dr. Richmond S. Adebiaye is a professor, academic administrator, and researcher with over fifteen years of experience teaching cybersecurity, data science, computer science, and Information Systems courses. He has 35 peer-reviewed research publications and authored 5 textbooks in cybersecurity, object-oriented programming, and enterprise network management. Dr. Adebiaye earned his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the prestigious Robert Morris University, PA. He has CISSP, CISM, CRISC, AWS Data, LPI, and 8 other IT and Data Science certifications. Dr. Adebiaye has been an SME for the National Security Agency (NSA) with a Tier 4 (BI) secret clearance since 2012 on Enterprise Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics and also a member of the “Infragard” (Dallas, TX Charter) since 2010. His research areas are in Information and cyberdata analytical science, Information and Digital Forensics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, (AI/ML), privacy-enhancing technologies imprecision, audit-proof network management, and protocols. His research interests focus on methods for solving large stochastic planning problems (MDPs) using approximate dynamic programming techniques (reinforcement learning, value function approximation). He is also interested in creating AI agents that can understand language and reason, therefore also worked on natural language processing (NLP) with a focus on question-answering and problem-solving. Dr. Adebiaye is affiliated with the University of South Carolina Upstate.
