Professor Jöns Hilborn is since 2001 the head of the Macromolecular Chemistry program at the Department of Chemistry - Angstrom, Uppsala University in Sweden. He has extensive management experience from international and national research, including the life science industry. His research interests are in designing, synthesising, and preparing polymers and specific materials for tissue regeneration and drug delivery. Chemistry, biology, and engineering are combined with medicine to bring basic research findings from the lab bench to the clinic and commercial applications. The synthesis and preparation of hydrogel biomaterials based on extracellular matrix components are of particular focus. He is a frequently invited speaker at international events, has published >400 scientific papers and patents (H=65), and has started 7 companies.

Jackie Y. Ying received her Ph.D. from Princeton University. She was Professor of Chemical Engineering at MIT (1992-2005), and Founding Executive Director of Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (2003-2018). She is currently Director of NanoBio Lab, and A*STAR Senior Fellow of Institute of Materials Research and Engineering and A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs. She was an Inaugural Inductee for the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame. She was the inaugural winner of the Mustafa Prize “Top Scientific Achievement Award” in 2015for her research in bio-nanotechnology. She was the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Nano Today. Prof. Blaž Likozar is a head of the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering at the National Institute of Chemistry (NIC), leading the programme “Chemical Reaction Engineering”, as well as numerous research projects (15 H2020 / 20 in Horizon Europe alone). His expertise lies (among others) in heterogeneous catalysis materials, modelling, simulation and optimization of process fluid mechanics, transport phenomena and chemical kinetics. He worked at the University of Delaware in 2014–2015 as a Fulbright Program researcher. He has authored >270 articles, was cited >5000 times, having a h-index of 36.

Weibo Cai, PhD Weibo Cai is a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of Radiology, Medical Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He received a BS degree in Chemistry from Nanjing University, China (1995) and a PhD degree in Chemistry from the University of California San Diego (2004). Between 2005 and 2008, Dr. Cai did his post-doctoral research in the Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford University. In February 2008, Dr. Cai joined the University of Wisconsin - Madison as a Biomedical Engineering Cluster Hire, and was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure in 2014, and Full Professor in 2018. Goreti Sales is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department of Sciences and Technology Coimbra University and Coordinator of the BioMark research group at the University of Coimbra (BioMark@UC). She received a degree in pharmaceutical sciences in 1994 and a PhD in analytical chemistry in 2000, all from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Porto University, and was professor in the Polytechnic Institute, School of Engineering, from 2006 to 2019. Her research interests are mainly devoted to research on biomimetic nanomaterials and biosensing devices. She is the founder of the research group BioMark, Sensor Research (in 2011) and she was awarded (in 2012) a Starting Grant by the European Research Council, targeting a new technical approach that merges biosensors with solar cells. Professor Goreti is currently coordinating the FET-Open project (H2020) MindGAP and has been nominated EIC National Champion (for Portugal) by the European Innovation Council, in 2021. She has authored about 190 publications,with about 4600 citations, h-index 38 (GS).

Ernst Wagner is professor of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at LMU and Center of Nanoscience since 2001. Dr. Jun Chen is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. Prof. Dr. Seda Kızılel received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Boğaziçi University, İstanbul. She completed her PhD. at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Illinois Institute of Technology and was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Chicago. Dr. Kızılel joined as a faculty of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Koç University, İstanbul in 2008. DrKızılel’s research focuses on theunique design of responsive hydrogel particles to address the lack of secretion of a protein/hormone such as insulin, utilization of these particles to protect cells from immune attack, induces secretion of signalling chemokines from cells to recruit Tregs for long-term functional grafts. Dr Kızılel has supervised over 18 MS and 10 PhD students and postdocs, and attracted a total grant budget of ~3.5 million Euros since 2008, carried out21projects, which received funding from Tübitak, European Commission and industrial companies. Some of the awards Dr Kızılel received includes Outstanding Faculty Award at Koç University in 2018, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA, PI) Supported L’ORÉAL Young Women in Science Award in2009, European Commission Marie Curie Fellowship FP7-PEOPLE-IRG (Reintegration Grant) (2008), Charles Huggins Annual Research Conference, Best Laboratory Research Award at the University of Chicago in 2006.

Stefania Lamponi is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Pharmacy (Department of Excellence 2018-2022) of University of Siena (Italy). Moreover, she is a co-founder and President of the academic spin-off company SienabioACTIVE of the University of Siena. She graduated in Biological Sciences and has a PhD in Biomaterials. Her main research interests concern the in vitro biocompatibility evaluation of polymeric materials and hydrogels for biomedical applications; evaluation of biological properties of natural and derivatised polysaccharide; polysaccharide-metal complexes as angiogenetic and antibacterial agents; polysaccharide-based hydrogels as scaffolds for cell cultures and tissue engineering, and drug delivery systems; micro and nano-patterned systems for tissue engineering; in vitro cell characterisation of micro and nanostructured surfaces for cell guidance (tissue engineering); in vitro biological evaluation of citotoxicity, citocompatibility and genotoxicity of new drugs, antioxidant molecules of natural origin and nanoparticles. Furthermore, a significant part of her research activity focuses on the extraction, chemical characterization and evaluation of in vitro bioactivity, both in cellular and acellular systems, of bioactive substances from plants and the study of nanocarriers for the intracellular release of natural antioxidants. She is Author of 125 scientific papers published on peer reviewed international journals (ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2788-8797).

Prof Eric Cheng obtained his BSc and PhD degrees both from the University of Bath in 1987 and 1990 respectively. Before he joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1997, he was with Lucas Aerospace, United Kingdom as a Principal Engineer and led a number of power electronics projects. He is the electrical designer for the Hong Kong 1st commercial electric vehicle in Hong Kong. He is also the designer for the 1st charging network in Hong Kong. He received the numerous awards related to electrical engineering, energy and automotive. He has published over 500 papers and 7 books. He has over 100 interviews by media on his research and development. He is now the professor and director of Power Electronics Research Centre of the university. His research interests are all aspects of power electronics, Power Quality, Renewable Energy, Motor Drives, Energy Storage, Energy Saving, Power Distribution, EMI, High Speed Rail, Electric Vessel, Electric Vehicle and Automotive advanced components. He is the recipient of the international award in Seoul International Invention Fair 2015 Gold prize for his contribution in super-capacitor to electric vehicles, 2016 iCAN Gold Medal for his contribution in active suspension, and Gold Award of Hong Kong Innovation and Technology in 2017 and Geneva’s Invention Expo Silver Award for his contribution in antilock braking system, in 2021. Prof. Cheng is a chartered engineer and a fellow of IEEE and IET.

Carol is Pharmaceutical Chemist and Master in Biotechnology by Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), Peru. In addition, she is PhD in Biochemical Engineering by University College London (UCL), United Kingdom. She got the "Generation of the Bicentennial Scholarship" granted by the Ministry of Education, Peru for PhD studies abroad. She has about 8 years of experience in scientific research and university teaching. She has worked on projects funded by the Research Council (CONCYTEC) fromPeru and by Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) from the UK. She has participated in international conferences and has published scientific papers in different journals. She currently works as a postgraduate professor at UNMSM and as postdoctoral researcher in the Nuffield Department of Medicine of University of Oxford.

Dr. Cristina Martín finished her Chemistry studies in 2012 at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) and obtained her PhD in Chemistry in 2016 from both the Universities of Trieste (Italy) and Castilla-La Mancha, working under the co-supervision of Prof. Maurizio Prato and Prof. Ester Vázquez. During her PhD studentship, she spent 3 months at the University of Brighton (UK) under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Santin. As a postdoctoral researcher she worked in 2016–2017 at IRICA (Spain). In October 2017 she joined the group of Dr Alberto Bianco as a postdoctoral fellow. Her research activities have been focused mainly on carbon nanostructures and their biodegradation and biomedical applications. Since October 2020 she is working as a CONEX-Plus Marie Curie Fellow at University Carlos III of Madrid, directing her research efforts towards the development of new approaches for wound healing through graphene-based materials.

Prof. Carolina Valenzuela is a Veterinarian and Doctor in Nutrition and Food. She is currently the Director of the Doctorate in Nutrition and Food at the University of Chile and Postgraduate Director of the Faculty of Veterinary and Livestock Sciences at the University of Chile.His main lines of research are: encapsulation of food ingredients, transformation of insects as food, development of agricultural supplements and additives. Current projects, funded by the Chilean Science and Technology Commission include encapsulation of food/feed ingredients for animal nutrition andinsects as food and feed. She has several scientific articles published in WoSinternational journals and has participated in National and International Congresses on the subject.

Alexandru Salceanu (ResearcherID: B-6307-2015) is full professor with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Iasi, Romania, being doctoral studies supervisor and Head of Doctoral studies for electrical and power domains. Alessandro Ruggiero, PhD from 1999 to 2005 was Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Salerno, where he has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Industrial Engineering since 2005 till today. In 2017 he received the National qualification to Full Professor in Applied Mechanics. He authored more than 220 scientific papers on prestigious indexed international journals and national and international proceedings (h-index 24 Scopus Dec 2021).
