Professor Yehuda Shoenfeld, MD, FRCP, MaACR President of ARIEL University, Israel Founder of Zabludowicz Center for Autoimmune Diseases in Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel Yehuda Shoenfeld is the founder and former head of the Zabludowicz Center for Autoimmune Diseases, at the Sheba Medical Center, which is affiliated to the Sackler Faculty of Medicine in TelAviv University, in Israel. Professor Shoenfeld is also the Incumbent of the Laura Schwarz-Kipp Chair for Research of Autoimmune Diseases at the Tel-Aviv University. Professor Shoenfeld’s clinical and scientific works focus on autoimmune and rheumatic diseases, and he has published more than 2280 papers in journals such as New Eng J Med, Nature, Lancet, Proc Nat Acad Scie, J Clin Invest, J Immunol, Blood, FASEB, J Exp Med, Circulation, Cancer and others. Herbert E. Huppert Sc. D., FRS is an Australian born fluid dynamiscist, who was the Foundation Professor of the Institute of Theoretical Geophysics at the University of Cambridge. He is the author or co-author of some 285 publications on various aspects of meteorology, oceanography, like how to defend against tsunamis, and the fluid mechanics associated with the "solid" Earth, such as the evolution of magma chambers, lava flows and volcanic eruptions. He was awarded a Royal medal in 2020 and was winner of the Open International Competition for the 2020 Scientist of the Year in the category of "Earth and the Environmental Sciences"

Ralph M. Kennel was born in 1955 at Kaiserslautern (Germany). In 1979 he got his diploma degree and in 1984 his Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Kaiserslautern. From 1983 to 1999 he worked on several positions with Robert BOSCH GmbH (Germany). Until 1997 he was responsible for the development of servo drives. Dr. Kennel was one of the main supporters of VECON and SERCOS interface, two multi-company development projects for a microcontroller and a digital interface especially dedicated to servo drives. Furthermore he took actively part in the definition and release of new standards with respect to CE marking for servo drives. Between 1997 and 1999 Dr. Kennel was responsible for "Advanced and Product Development of Fractional Horsepower Motors" in automotive applications. His main activity was preparing the introduction of brushless drive concepts to the automotive market. From 1994 to 1999 Dr. Kennel was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (England, UK). From 1999 - 2008 he was Professor for Electrical Machines and Drives at Wuppertal University (Germany). Since 2008 he is Professor for Electrical Drive systems and Power Electronics at Technische Universitaet Muenchen (Germany). His main interests today are: Sensorless control of AC drives, predictive control of power electronics and Hardware-in-the-Loop systems. Dr. Kennel is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Fellow of IET (former IEE) and a Chartered Engineer in the UK. Within IEEE he is Treasurer of the Germany Section as well as Distinguished Lecturer of the Power Electronics Society (IEEE-PELS). Dumitru Baleanu is a Professor at the Institute of Space Sciences, Magurele-Bucharest, Romania and a visiting staff member at the Department of Mathematics,Cankaya University, Ankara, Turkey. Dumitru Baleanu got his PhD from the Institute of Atomic Physics in 1996. His fields of interest include the fractional dynamics and their applications, fractional differential equations and their applications, discrete mathematics, image processing, bio-informatics, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, soliton theory, Lie symmetry, dynamic systems on time scales, computational complexity, and the wavelet method and its applications. From 2002 to 2010, he worked as visiting professor of computer science and engineering in two universities in Jordan. I am a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Abhishek Kumar Singh at Materials Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India. My area of interest is focused on the establishment of structure-property relationship in materials using first principles and machine learning methods. I work on the development of unique and noble featurization techniques to represent material structures uniquely and map to the target applications. I also study atomistic simulations in materials to understand the interfacial behavior of interconnects for various applications.

Ana Kalazić. After graduation, she joined the Faculty of Textile Technology at the University of Zagreb in 2020, at the Department of Textile Design and Management, where she still works today as a project associate on project “Development of multifunctional non-flammable woven fabrics for dual purpose”, funded by the EU from the European Regional Development Fund. In the same year, she enrolled the postgraduate doctoral study “Textile Science and Technology” at the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb.

Dr. Shibin Krishna is a postdoctoral researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Science from CSIR - National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi. He is one of the recipients of the prestigious Prime Minister Doctoral Fellowship jointly funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST, Govt. of India) and SIMCO Global Technology & System Ltd. in order to pursue his research at CSIR-NPL. Later, he joined Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) as a Research Associate. During his research career, he has acquired the best poster award at XIX International Workshop on the Physics of Semiconductor Devices (IWPSD-2017) in 2017 and the best paper award in 24th - National Conference on Crystal Growth (NSCG-24) in 2012. His Ph.D. work was mainly related to the epitaxial growth of III-Nitride semiconductors by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy system, their analysis via various characterization techniques (such as RHEED, HRXRD, XPS, STM, PL, AES, LEED, HRXRD) and device fabrication especially optical detectors in the ultraviolet and near-infrared spectral ranges. Currently, his research focuses on the 2-dimensional (2D) material growth by MBE and its in-situ characterization by scanning tunneling microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. He is also interested in studying surface defects, atomic reconstructions, and manipulations of 2D materials. Biographical summary-Federica Bertocchini F.B is Principal Investigator at the Department of Microbial and Plant Biology, the Centre for Biological Research Margarita Salas (CIB) of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), Madrid, Spain (www.plasticentropy.net, www.federicabertocchini.com). After a PhD from the Open University London, UK/DIBIT Research Centre S. Raphael Hospital, Milan, Italy, F.B. trained in institutes that fall into the top-rank category in the scientific community, worldwide: Department of Genetics, Columbia University, New York, USA; Department of Cell Biology, University College London, London, UK; Department of Biochemistry and Physiology, UCSF, San Francisco, USA. F.B. has been working on basic questions related to the molecular mechanisms driving early development of chick and reptile embryos, introducing new concepts in the understanding and interpretation of how early pluripotent cells restrict their potentiality towards specific fates. She established her laboratory at the Spanish Research Council institute IBBTEC in Santander, Spain. At the same time, F.B. developed a parallel line of research driven by the interest for environmental protection issues and the bioremediation methodology by biological processes. F.B discovered that the larvae of Lepidoptera Galleria mellonella are capable of fast degradation of polyethylene (PE), the most resilient and also produced plastic material in the world. After that, F.B. moved her laboratory at the Biotechnology Institute CIB (Spanish Research Council), in Madrid in September 2019 to continue developing the project on the wax worm, that resulted in the discovery of the first PEases, enzymes produced by the animal and capable of degrading PE within a few hours from exposure.

Mohsen Razzaghi was named a W.L. Giles Distinguished Professor in 2019. He received his Bachelor’s Degree (with honors) in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from the University of Sussex in England, and his Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in Canada. He then returned to Sussex University and earned his doctoral degree. He is currently a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and has served as Head of the Department since 2007. Dr. Razzaghi was honored to be offered two prestigious Fulbright fellowships for the academic years 2011-2012 and 2015-2016. During each period, he spent nine months at the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest in Romania, one of the most prestigious European universities. In addition, he received his third Fulbright award as a Fulbright specialist to spend six weeks at the University of Bucharest in Romania beginning in May 2019. Through his initiative, MSU completed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, University Polytechnic Timisoara (UPT) in Romania, University of Bucharest (UOB) in Romania, University of Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In addition, UPT and UOB obtained EU funding for a joint Erasmus+ educational program with MSU for student and faculty exchanges. Razzaghi’s research area is in Applied and Computational Mathematics, which ranges from developing, analyzing, and implementing mathematical models and numerical methods from sciences and engineering. He is particularly interested in optimal control, fractional calculus, orthogonal functions, and wavelets. He has performed fundamental work and has made major advances in these fields. Specifically, he has introduced a novel method known as "hybrid functions" by combining piecewise and continuous basis functions. He was also the first to use Legendre wavelets for approximating solutions to problems in dynamical systems with jump and discontinuities. He has over 230 refereed publications in high-quality international journals in the areas of applied mathematics, mathematical physics, and engineering. He presented over 180 talks in national/international conferences. These include numerous plenary and keynote lectures. In addition, he is on the editorial board of the international journal of Mathematics and Computers in Simulation. Because of his extensive scientific and educational activities in Romania, he has been named to editorial boards of two Romanian journals. He also had NASA grants of over $600,000. Dr. Razzaghi has been an essential part of the Department’s graduate program since its inception and was heavily involved in the design of the Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences at Mississippi State. He has been instrumental in developing several new courses, and he has taught a wide range of graduate and undergraduate classes. Dr. Razzaghi supervised and directed Gamal Elnagar, the first student to complete a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences at MSU in August 1993. His thesis work resulted in eight refereed journal publications, one of which, coauthored with him, to date has been cited over 640 times.

Dr. Oshrat Levy-Ontman, a senior lecturer and a researcher in chemical engineering department at Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE), is an expertin the field of algae polysaccharides. She received her Ph.D. in Biotechnology Engineering from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel and explored for the first time the novel N-glycanstructures in the cell-wall glycoproteins of red algae. Following her Ph.D. studies,shebuilt her own research group, which focuses much of its activity on identifying thefull potential of renewable and biodegradable organic polysaccharidesin biotechnological applications and on developing different methods for the use of these renewable polysaccharides as supports for homogeneous catalysts that will be superior to those currently being used in terms of performance, cost effectiveness, greenness, and ease of synthesis, use and recycling.

Prof Herman Potgieter is a professor in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and simultaneously holds an appointment as professor in Waste Beneficiation and Transformation at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. A holder of a Ph.D in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering as well as a doctorate in Chemistry, Prof Potgieter has 250 peer-reviewed publications to his credit, has guided more than 60 postgraduate students to successful completion of their degrees and has made contributions to more than 100 international and national conferences as author or co-author of papers and posters. He is a member of several professional and learned organisations and holds chartered status as both an engineer and chemist. Prof. Potgieter's research interests are in the areas of waste beneficiation, and especially metals recovery through application of new and novel sustainable extraction technologies, materials utilisation, application and characterisation and corrosion/degradation of materials in various aggressive environments. ​

Sisonke Sigonya is a Ph.D. candidate at the Durban University of Technology, in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal province in South Africa. She specializes in environmental organic pollutants in aquatic environments using various chromatographic techniques. She holds a Master's degree in Applied Science Chemistry. She has published a paper on identifying and quantifying pharmaceutical pollutants such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and antiretroviral drugs in various aquatic systems. Her current research focus is on the synthesis and characterization of electrospun-based multifunction composite membranes for the simultaneous extraction of metalloids and pharmaceuticals in wastewater.

Je-Lueng Shie received the Ph. D. degree in Graduate Institute of Environmental Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan, in 2001. In 2004, he joined the Department of Environmental Engineering in National I-Lan University, Taiwan, where he has been a full professor in 2012, and distinguished professor in 2017. Dr. Shie works in the environmental field of biomass/waste conversion for biofuels, air pollution control and negative carbon technology. Since 2000, He made over 275 scholarly contributions including nearly 95 SCI/EI publications, 127 conference papers, 44 technical reports, 7 patients and 2 technology transfers. In 2013, Dr. Shie was listed as “Engineering Highly Cited Papers World Top 1% (TOP 1%)” by Essential Science Indicators (ESI) of Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). In 2016, he assisted in the establishment of National Organization "Taiwan Bio- energy Technology Development Association, TBTDA", and serving as executive director to provide technical and professional suggestions to environmental and bio- energy industries in Taiwan. The purpose of TBTDA is to strengthen the link between government and industries, and enhance the legislation progress of Law. At the same time, he also teamed a scholarly group to promote the cooperation of industries and government for the carbon neutrality or net-zero emissions.

Dr Omowunmi Isafiade received both MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and another masters level (PGDip) degree in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), South Africa (Cum Laude). Prior to joining the University of the Western Cape as a full-time academic, Dr Isafiade was a post-doctoral researcher under the National Research Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology (NRF-DST) innovation fellowship. Her research interests include but are not limited to data-driven decision support, applications of artificial intelligence to public safety in (emerging) smart cities, and immersive technologies in diverse computing settings, which are key streams of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). She has published a number of peer-reviewed articles in accredited conference proceedings and journals. She has successfully supervised a number of Honours projects, PGDip and MSc. Students, and is an active reviewer for journal of Crime Science (Springer Nature), Journal of Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, MDPI Information (Switzerland) and Grace Hopper International Conference, USA, among others. She is consistently involved in the advancement of women in the STEM field by participating in various initiatives to support the cause. Professor Leony Ortiz received both B.S. and MS.c. degrees in Automatic Engineering from the Instituto Superior Politécnico Julio Antonio Mella (ISPJAM) from the Universidad de Oriente, Cuba; an additional Master of Science degree in Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, in Medellín, Colombia; and is a Ph.D in Engineering (Magna Cume Laude) from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. He is currently serving as a full professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, in Quito, Ecuador and is an active member of the Smart Grids research GIREI Group in Ecuador. His main line of research is the Systems Identification, Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Control applied to Smart Microgrids. Professor Ortiz has been a coordinator and researcher of various research projects developed at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana and currently coordinates the project "Resilient systems for hierarchical control of AC / DC Hybrid Microgrid based on fault detection and tolerance strategies", 2022. Internationally, he is an invited collaborator for the prestigious Colombian research program “Energética 2030”. George Kordas is a researcher and is focusing on fighting cancer by using a modern Trojan horse, nanomedicine. G. Kordas was born in Nikaia of Piraeus, Greece in 1949. He studied Physics in the Erlangen University of Germany and finished his master in Nuclear Physics. In the same university he completed his Ph.D. in Engineering. G. Kordas has been selected from the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” for his idea to cure cancer by using nanomedicine and funded him with €150.000. He and his team have developed nano-spheres with the size of 200-300 micrometer and are sensitive only to cancer cells, so once they come in contact with them, they release the medicine directly to them. With this method the treatment only targets the cancer cells and leaves the rest unharmed by the medicine. They focus now on breast and prostate cancer. His goal is to proceed to human treatment but he knows the major problem with it. As G. Kordas says: “Our goal is to proceed to personalized chemotherapy. Each human is different and there can’t be a single treatment for all. For this reason we need special recipes to treat various cancerous conditions”. G. Kordas, before joining the “Demokritos” staff in 1990, he had a very long career in teaching. He started in 1974 at the Erlangen University of Germany as a research and teaching assistant and in 1982 as a laboratory instructor. From 1985 till 1990, G. Kordas was an Instructor teaching “Glass Technology” and “Phase Equilibria” at the University of Illinios Urbana-Champaign in the United States. In “Demokritos”, he instructed “Physics of Amorphous Solids” and “Phase Equilibria”. From 2004 till 2010, he was instructor at the University of Patras in Greece. His courses were “Glass and Ceramics” and “Spectroscopy”. In 2015 Georgios Kordas and Eleni Efthimiadou created Nano4chem, an oncology-focused nanomedicine platform company. The company’s goals is to provide a solution to the problem “How can enhance the specific delivery of delivered therapeutic drug to the tumour reducing the drug aquired side effects dose in healthy tissue improving in that way therapeutic efficacy?”. During his career, G. Kordas has received dozens of honors and awards. Some of the most recent, are the 2012 “Award for Scientific Excellence” by the National Center for Scientific Research and the 2015 “Honorary Award for Outstanding Achievements in Innovation”. Professor Razin is a world-leading scientist in the field of mast cell biology. His first major contribution was over 30 years ago, when he developed a cultured mouse bone marrow-derived mast cell model. This system changed mast cell research and is still one of the main tools for studying mast cell function. Karl-Heinz Gresslehner was born on 27.03.1948 in Linz / Austria and completed his PhD in the field of semiconductor physics in 1981 at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. He was working more then 10 years in the industry (semiconductor industry, in environmental protection at the state government Upper Austria) and 24 years as a teacher at a school for higher technical education (HTL). Since 2016 he is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria and was the head of the research group ‘Thermoelectricity’ whereby these research activities were ended on 28.02.2021 by the Dean of the FH Wels Dr. Michael Rabl. Currently he is a Guest-Professor at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz / Austria (JKU / Center for Surface and Nanoanalytics) researching in the field of spectroscopic ellipsometry on semiconductors and industrial applications of thermoelectricity.

Guenter Steiner is Professor of Biochemistry and Immunology at the Division of Rheumatology of the Medical University of Vienna and former director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute forArthritis and Rehabilitation. His research activities are focused on elucidating the pathomechanisms of systemic autoimmune diseases, with a strong focus on rheumatoid arthritis (RA). His investigations are aimed on the one hand at understanding the involvement of T cells and synovial fibroblasts in the the pathogenesis of RA, and on the other hand on the value of autoantibodies for diagnosis and prognosis of RA. He is also involved in building up a Nation-wide patient registry for osteoarthritis, the most common joint disease, and particularly interested in chondrocyte biology.
