Francesco Saverio Pavone is directing a research group working in the field of biophotonics and biophysics with focusses mainly on single molecule biophysics, advanced microscopy techniques, tissue imaging, biomedical imaging. Pavone is authors of many internationals papers and editor of international books. He has more than 100 invited talk and he is editor of several international journals. He coordinates several international projects and he has organized many international congresses. He is winner of an ERC advanced grant.

David J. Moss is Director of the Optical Sciences Centre at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, since 2016. He was with RMIT University in Melbourne, 2014-16, the University of Sydney 2004 - 14 and was a senior manager and scientist with JDS Uniphase in Ottawa Canada from 1998-2003. From 1994-98 he was a Senior Research Fellow with the Optical Fiber Technology Centre at Sydney University prior to which he was a visiting Scientist with Hitachi Central Research Laboratories in Tokyo, Japan,1992-94. From 1988-92 was with the National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto in Physics and BSc from the University of Waterloo. He won the 2011 Australian Museum Eureka Science Prize and Google Australia Prize for Innovation in Computer Science. He is a Fellow of the IEEE Photonics Society, the OSA (now the Optica Society) and the SPIE (International Photonics Society). His research interests include optical microcombs, integrated nonlinear optics, quantum optics, microwave photonics, optical neural networks, optical networks and transmission, 2D materials including graphene oxide for nonlinear optics, optical signal processing, nanophotonics, biomedical photonics for cancer diagnosis and therapy, and other areas.

Prof. Oleg Figovsky was the founder and R&D the Polymate Ltd. - International Nanotechnology Research Centre where he is working on research in nanostructured corrosion-resistant composite materials and protective coatings based on a polymer and silicate matrix. Novel nanotechnologies invented by Prof. O. Figovsky were the basis for establishing industrial production in the US, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia and Israel. From 2020 he is honorary president & chief of Department for science, technology & education AWP He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Head of the UNESCO Chair "Green Chemistry". For his inventions in nanotechnologies he was awarded gold and silver medals at IENA-98 and Gold Angel Prize at the Genius 2006 exhibition. Prof. Oleg Figovsky has authored of a few books, more than 300 scientific articles and 500 patents. Prof. Oleg Figovsky was awarded orders "Engineering Glory", "Antoine de Saint-Exupery" & medal "Holy Land of Israel"; he is Laureate of the 2015 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award (USA) and 2017 & 2018 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (USA).

Prof. Dr. Zhigang Chen is currently a Specially-appointed Professor at Nankai University, China. He earned his Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr College in 1995. After two years of postdoctoral work at Princeton University, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Research Staff Member before joining the faculty at San Francisco State University in 1998. He has edited one book, and published 8 invited book chapters and about 300 papers in refereed journals. His work received numerous citations with an h-index of 55 (according to ISI Web of Sci.). He was elected to the Fellow of the Optical Society of America in 2009 and Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2015. Andreas Mandelis, FRSC, FCAE, FAPS, FSPIE, FAAAS, FASME, DF-IETI, PhD, is a Full Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering; and the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto. He is the Canada Research Chair in Diffusion-Wave and Photoacoustic Sciences and Technologies. He is the Director of the Center for Advanced Diffusion-Wave and Photoacoustic Technologies (CADIPT) and of the new Institute for Advanced Non-Destructive and Non-Invasive Diagnostic Technologies (IANDIT) at the University of Toronto. He is also the President and CTO of Diffusion-Wave Diagnostic Technologies, Inc., Toronto, ON (www.diffusewavetech.com), and the CTO of Quantum Dental Technologies, Inc., Toronto, ON, Canada (www.thecanarysystem.com). He received his BS degree (Magna cum Laude) in physics from Yale University, and MA, MSE, and Ph.D. degrees from the Applied Physics and Materials Laboratory, Princeton University. He is the author and co-author of 430+ scientific papers in refereed journals and 190+ scientific and technical proceedings papers. He has been Editor-in-Chief of the Springer International Journal of Thermophysics (2014-19) and Topical Editor of the OSA Journal Optics Letters (2012-18). Currently he is an Associate Editor of the AIP Journals Review of Scientific Instruments, Journal of Applied Physics and a member of the editorial board of the SPIE Journal of Biomedical Optics. He is also a Contributing Editor of the AIP flagship magazine Physics Today. He has several inventions, 40 patents and patents pending in the areas of photothermal tomographic imaging, signal processing and measurement, hydrogen sensors, dental laser diagnostics (biothermophotonics), several semiconductor non-destructive diagnostic technologies and laser biophotoacoustic and biothermophotonic tissue imaging. He has also been (2012-18) a National 1000-Talents Professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu. Professor Mandelis has received numerous national and international prizes and awards including the APS Keithley Award in Instrumentation Science, the Discovery Award in Science and Engineering (the Ontario Premier’s Innovation Award), the ASME 2009 Yeram Touloukian Award (and Medal) in Thermophysics, the Senior Prize of the International Photoacoustic and Photothermal Association, the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Industrial and Applied Physics and the CAP-INO Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Applied Photonics. In 2014 he was elected Killam laureate, recipient of the Killam Prize in Engineering, one of Canada’s highest academic prizes awarded annually by the Governor General of Canada. In 2017 he was the recipient of the Inaugural Canadian NDT Research Award, Canadian Institute for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CINDE).

Prof. Jianyong Ouyang’sresearch interests cover conducting polymers, thermoelectric polymers, polymer nanocomposites, polymer light-emitting diodes, polymer solar cells and polymer/nanoparticle memristors. His lab invented many methods to enhance the conductivity of PEDOT:PSS that is the most successful conducting polymer in terms of practical application and demonstrated world-record conductivities of PEDOT:PSS through acid treatment in 2012 and 2013. They also invented original approaches to enhance the thermoelectric properties of polymers and reported world-record thermoelectric properties of polymers in 2017 and 2018. Recently, his lab reported the first stretchable and self-adhesive conducting polymer blends in the world and demonstrated their application as conformal dry electrodes for continuous long-term biopotential monitoring in 2020. They also invented the first hybrid ionic/electronic thermoelectric converters (HTECs) that marks the adventure of hybrid ionic/electronic thermoelectrics in 2020. His lab is also the first to apply the flexible strain sensors to monitor food processing in 2021. He also invented the first polymer/nanoparticle memristors in the world in 2004. He has published more than 190 papers in international journals. His total citation is >19300 in terms of Google Scholar, averagely almost 100 citations/paper, and his H-index is 68.

Dirk M. Guldi completed both his undergraduate studies (1988) and PhD (1990) at the University of Cologne (Germany). Following postdoctoral appointments at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (USA), the Hahn-Meitner Institute Berlin (1992), and Syracuse University, he joined the faculty of the Notre Dame Radiation Laboratory in 1995. He was promoted a year later from assistant to associate professional specialist, and remained affiliated to Notre Dame until 2004. Since 2004, he is Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen. Since 2018, Dirk M. Guldi is Co-Editor in Chief of Nanoscale and Nanoscale Horizons and he has been named among the world’s Highly Cited Researchers by Thomson Reuters. The Guldi group and its network belong to the cutting edge of worldwide research in solar-energy conversion with expertise not only in advanced photon- and charge-management without losing sight of the ultimate objective of developing integrated solar energy-to-chemical fuel conversion systems, which in the future can be utilized in real devices. Impressive documentations of their accomplishments are more than 700 peer-reviewed publications, far more than 40,000 citations, and an h-index of 102. At the heart is always a multifaceted and interdisciplinary research program, where his group designs, conceptually devises, synthesizes, tests, and characterizes novel nanometer scale materials with the objective of using them in solar energy conversion schemes. A broad range of spectroscopic (i.e. time-resolved and steady-state measurements with spectrophotometric detection covering a time range from femtoseconds to minutes) and microscopic techniques (i.e. scanning probe microscopy, electron microscopy) are routinely employed to address aspects that correspond to the optimization and fine-tuning of dynamics and/or efficiencies of charge separation, charge transport, charge shift, and charge recombination processes.

Ray Chen is the Keys and Joan Curry/Cullen Trust Endowed Chair at The University of Texas Austin. Chen is the director of the Nanophotonics and Optical Interconnects Research Lab, at the Microelectronics Research Center. He is currently the director of the AFOSR MURI-Center for Power-Efficient Silicon Nanophotonics for Optical Computing and Interconnects. From 2008 to 2013 he also led a MURI center for Silicon Nanomembrane involving faculty from Stanford, UIUC, Rutgers, and UT Austin. A myriad of commercially available devices and systems are available in the market from these basic research programs. He received his BS degree in Physics in 1980 from the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, his MS degree in physics in 1983, and his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering in 1988, both from the University of California. He joined UT Austin in 1992 to start the optical interconnect research program. From 1988 to 1992 Chen worked as a research scientist, manager, and director of the Department of Engineering at the Physical Optics Corporation in Torrance, California. Chen served as the CTO, Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Radiant Research, Inc. from 2000 to 2001, where he raised 18 million dollars A-Round funding to commercialize polymerbased photonic devices involving over twenty patents, which were acquired by Finisar in 2002, a publicly traded company in the Silicon Valley (NASDAQ:FNSR). He also serves as the founder and Chairman of the Board of Omega Optics Inc. since its initiation in 2001. Omega Optics has received over twenty million dollars in research funding from private sectors and government agencies. His research work has been awarded over 150 research grants and contracts from such sponsors as Army, Navy, Air Force, DARPA, MDA, NSA, NSF, DOE, EPA, NIST, NIH, NASA, the State of Texas, and private industry. The research topics are focused on four main subjects: (1) Nano-photonic passive and active devices for bio- and EM-wave sensing and interconnect applications, (2) Thin film guided-wave optical interconnection, computing and packaging for 2D and 3D laser beam routing and steering, (3) True time delay (TTD) wide band phased array antenna (PAA), and (4). 3D printed micro-electronics and photonics. Experiences garnered through these programs are pivotal elements for his research and further commercialization. Chen’s group at UT Austin has reported its research findings in more than 970 publications, including over 100 invited papers and 74 patents. He has chaired or been a program-committee member for more than 130 domestic and international conferences organized by IEEE, SPIE OSA, and PSC. He has served as an editor, co-editor or coauthor for over twenty books. Chen has also served as a consultant for various federal agencies and private companies and delivered numerous invited talks to professional societies. Chen is a Fellow of IEEE, OSA, and SPIE. He was the recipient of the 1987 UC Regent’s Dissertation Fellowship and the 1999 UT Engineering Foundation Faculty Award, for his contributions in research, teaching and services. He received the honorary citizenship award in 2003 from the Austin city council for his contribution in community service. He was also the recipient of the 2008 IEEE Teaching Award, and the 2010 IEEE HKN Loudest Professor Award. 2013 NASA Certified Technical Achievement Award for contribution on moon surveillance conformable phased array antenna. During his undergraduate years at the National Tsing Hua University he led the 1979 university debate team to the Championship of the Taiwan College-Cup Debate Contest. Chen has supervised 39 postdocs and graduated 54 PhD students from his research group at UT Austin. Many of them are currently professors in the major research universities in the world.

Prof Chun-Sing Lee obtained his BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Hong Kong in 1987 and 1991 respectively. He then furthered his research career in the University of Birmingham of UK with the support from a Croucher Foundation Fellowship. He joined the faculty of the City University of Hong Kong in 1994 and is currently a Chair Professor of Materials Chemistry and the Head of the Chemistry Department. He also co-founded the Center Of Super-Diamond and Advanced Films (COSDAF) in 1998 and is now the Center’s Director. Prof Lee’s current research interests include organic electronics devices and nanomaterials for energy, environmental and biomedical applications. In 2016, he established the journal Materials Today Energy with Elsevier and serves as the Editor-in-Chief. Prof Lee has published more than 800 journal papers with over 40,000 citations and a Scopus h-index of 106.

Professor William Shieh is with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia. His current research interests include OFDM techniques in both wireless and optical communications, few-mode fibers for optical communications and sensing, coherent optical communication systems, and optical packet switching. He has published more than 350 journal and conference papers and submitted 16 U.S. patents (10 issued) covering areas of optical multicarrier systems, polarization controller, wavelength stabilization in WDM systems, and Raman amplifier-based systems and subsystems. He has been awarded Australian Future Fellowship, 2011-2014. He is a fellow of both IEEE and Optical Society of America (OSA).

ELISABETTA COMINI earned her Laurea degree in Physics from University of Pisa working on crystals and spectroscopy in 1996; she then pursued her Ph.D. in Material science at the University of Brescia in 2000 on metal oxide thin films for chemical sensing. She received her Ph.D. degree in material science at the University of Brescia. She has been appointed assistant professor of physics of matter at Brescia University in 2001. She is now Full Professor in Physics at the University of Brescia. EC is a researcher specialist in the growth of metal oxides, particularly nanowires, thin films and the measurement of their electronic, functional and structural properties. EC was responsible of the research line on “Metal oxide nanocrystalline quasi-1D structures” at the SENSOR laboratory (Brescia University) since 2002 and now she is director of the Sensor lab (sensor.unibs.it). She serves as a reviewer for various international journals and she is part of the technical program committee of conferences in chemical sensing. Moreover, she was selected as Eurosensors Fellow in 2012, Vebleo fellow in 2020. She was organizer of symposia within the MRS society, within E-MRS society meetings. She is Member of the Technical Program Committee of several conferences such as 6th IEEE SENSORS 2007, 7th IEEE SENSORS 2008, Eurosensors 2009 to 2021. She was one of the five co-Chair of the 2013 Fall Meeting of the Materials Research Society. She is a voting member of the steering committee of EUROSENSORS conference. She is the Europe, Middle East & Africa Regional Chair of ISOCS (international society for olfaction and chemical sensing). She was promoter of 15 Ph.D., and supervisor of 30 undergraduate students. She has more than 500 communications, 130 invited communications at conferences and she has given more than 70 invited communications including 6 plenary talk. Herbert Gleiter received his Ph.D. in Physics and was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University and MIT. In 1973, Gleiter became Chair Professor of Materials Science and founded in 1988 today’s Leibniz Institute of New Materials at Saarbruecken, Germany. In 1994, he was appointed President of Research and Technology of the Research Center Karlsruhe, Germany, and 4 years later, he became the Founding Director of the Center’s Institute of Nanotechnology. In 2012 the University of Nanjing founded the “Herbert Gleiter Institute of Nanoscience” and appointed him as the Institute’s Founding Director. In 2019 the Chinse Academy of Science decided to set up a new research laboratory at Shenyyang working on Nanomaterials. This laboratory - named Herbert Gleiter International Laboratory - will be managed and guided by scientists from China, Germany and the US. Prof. Gleiter received more than 40 prizes. Among them, the most highly reputated awards in Germany, the Leibniz and the Max Planck Research Prize and the Cothenius Medal, the most prestigious award of the German National Academy of Sciences. The Alexande von Humboldt Foundation honord him by selecting him in 2006 for the Humboldt Medal and in 1999 for Werner Heidsenbrg Medal. Seven Universities from Germany, Hong Kong, Switzerland and China awarded him Honorary Doctor degreen. He is a Member of 12 Academies/National Academiesof Science and/or Engineering: Three Academis in the US, one in Germany, in UK, in Belgium , in Austria, in Greece, and three Academies/National Academies in India. Among them are the National Acadmy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Inventors the European Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Academia Europaea, the Indian Narional Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Academy of Engineering.. By the end of the 70’s he and his research group pioneered to a new kind of materials, called today nano-crystalline materials. In fact, the first publication on nanocrystalline materials has been cited today more than 3400 times and this area of Materials Science has been cited up to now in total over 150 000 times and about 6 to 8 international conferences on nano-materials are organized every year. His first paper pioneering nano-crystalline materials has been cited so far more than 3500 times. In recent years, Herbert Gleiter expanded the field of Materials Science by developing nanostructured non-crystalline materials. They are called today nano-glasses. Nano-glasses opeed the door to non-crystalline materials with new atomic and electronic structures and/or with chemical compositions that cannot be generated in the form of the glassy materials we have today. For example, they permit the production of new kinds of alloys (e.g alloys of silica and metals), new magnetic materials, new medical applications etc. In other words, nano-glasses may open the way into a “glass age” that would be based on the new properties of nano-glasses.. The significance of this contributon was recently acknowledged by electing him (together with the Nobel Laureates Haensch and zur Hausen) as the first member from Germany in the the US National Academy of Inventors and by appointing him to be the “Researcher of the Year 2020.

Ho Won Jang is a full professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Seoul National University. He earned his Ph.D from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2004. He worked as a research associate at University of Madison-Wisconsin from 2006 to 2009. Before he joined Seoul National University in 2012, he worked at Korea Institute of Science and Technology as a senior research scientist. He is a member of Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology. His research interests include materials synthesis and device fabrication for solar fuel generation, chemical sensing, nonvolatile data storage, neuromorphic computing, plasmonics, ferroelectronics, and metal-insulator transition. He has published more than 390 papers in international refereed journals.

After completing his BS in applied mathematics at Moscow Technical University of Electronics and Mathematics 1973, and a PhD degree in Solid State Physics, Shubnikov Institute of Crystallography, USSR Academy of Sciences , 1978, he took employment at the Scientific Researcher of Organic Intermediates & Dyes Institute (NIOPIK), Moscow, Russia. He became a Professor of Solid State Physics, Shubnikov Institute of Crystallography, USSR Academy of Sciences, 1988 and Head of Division in NIOPIK with 120 employees and 6 Laboratories including: "Physics of Liquid Crystals", “Chemistry of Liquid Crystals", “Organic Electrochromic Materials", "Luminiscent Dyes", "Photoanisotropic Materials", “Vacuum Photoresists”. The center occupies the leading position in such a field as Fine Chemistry for Electronics, including Liquid Crystals , Electrochromic, Photochromic, Thermochromic and Photoanisotropic Materials, Laser Dyes etc. He also start working as Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Clear Water Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong since June 1999. Since September 2018 until August 2020 he was Third Level Distinguished Professor, in Talents Special Zone, Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering School, Foshan University, Foshan. He is an Expert in Flat Panel Technology in Russia, recognized by the World Technology Evaluation Centre, 1994, and SID Fellow since 2008. He is an author of 6 books, 31 reviews and book chapters, about 317 journal papers, more than 668 Conference presentations, and 116 patents and patent applications including 35 US patents in the field of liquid crystals since 1974. He got Excellent Research Award of HKUST School of Engineering in 2012. Ronald Tetzlaff is a Full Professor of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering at the TechnischeUniverstität Dresden, Germany. From 1999 to 2003 Ronald Tetzlaff was Associate Editor of the IEEE, Transactions on Circuits and Systems: part I. He was “Distinguished Lecturer” of the IEEE CAS Society (2001 to 2002). He is a member of the scientific committee of different international conferences. He was the chair of the 7th IEEE International Workshop on Cellular Neural Networks and their Applications (CNNA 2002) and organized several special sessions at circuit and systems related conferences. From 2005 to 2007 he was the chair of the IEEE Technical Committee Cellular Neural Networks & Array Computing. Dr Malek is an experienced researcher with thorough discipline in Silicon Photonics, Design, Fabrication, and Data Analysis. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Senior Member of IEEE, a member of Engineering Council (CEng), IET and Optical Society of America (OSA). Currently Dr Malek is a faculty member at California State University, Bakersfield, California, USA. He has been awarded over $ 1,00,000 USD in grant monies and endowments and has published over 100 scientific research papers, a postgraduate textbook, as well as delivering few keynote speeches at different international scientific conferences around the Globe. Up to now he is the holder of 4 patents on optical fiber communication systems

Dr. Xianguang Yang received his Bachelor’s degree in Optics from Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) in 2012, and completed his Doctorate in Optical Engineering with the theoretical and experimental combination of nanowire and nanoparticle photonics at the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies affiliated with SYSU in 2016 under the guidance of Prof. Baojun Li (Changjiang Scholar). He received National Postgraduate Scholarship in 2016. He became an Assistant Professor of the Institute of Nanophotonics at the Jinan University in 2016 and became an Assistant to the Dean since 2018, then promoted to Associate Professor in 2019. He has mentored 5 MS students. His main research interests include photonics, plasmonics, nano-optics, detectors, optoelectronics and optothermal mechanisms, which were supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Dr. Yang has published 2 Book chapters, and 30 peer-reviewed journal publications, such as Nano Letters, ACS Nano, Nanophotonics, Nanoscale, ACS Photonics, and etc. He has been an Editorial Board Member of Optics in 2018 and to be a member for RSC Advances Reviewer Panel since 2020. In 2021, he has been appointed as guest editor of Frontiers in Materials (IF 3.515), managing the research topic of Photo-Sensitive Materials and Devices for Nanophotonics, Optoelectronics and Photoelectrocatalysis. He is a member of American Chemical Society (ACS), Optical Society of America (OSA), Chinese Optical Society (COS) and Chinese Society for Optical Engineering (CSOE).

Yang Yue received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and optics from Nankai University, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, USA, in 2012. He is a Professor with the School of Information and Communications Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. Dr. Yue’s current research interests include intelligent photonics, optical communications and networking, optical interconnect, detection, imaging and display technology, integrated photonics, free-space and fiber optics. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers (including Science) and conference proceedings with >9,000 citations, four edited books, >50 issued or pending patents, >100 invited presentations (including 1 tutorial, >10 plenary and >30 keynote talks). Dr. Yue is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE). He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access, and an Editor Board Member for three other scientific journals. He also served as Guest Editor for eight journal special issues, Chair or Committee Member for >60 international conferences, Reviewer for >60 prestigious journals.

Juergen Czarske is Director and C4-Professor at TU Dresden, Germany. A Fellow of the Society, EOS, SPIE, an elected member of Saxon Academy of Sciences and Scientific Society for Laser Technology, he has received the Berthold Leibinger Innovation Prize, the Reinhart Koselleck Project of German Research Foundation, the Measurement Technique Award of AHMT, and many other honors. In 2019, he received the Joseph Fraunhofer Award/Robert M. Burley Prize. He has published about 200 journal articles, has over 20 patents and has delivered over 100 invited lectures. Czarske's research interests include coherent system engineering, unconventional optical imaging with deformable mirrors, wavefront shaping for viewing through scattering media such as the skull of mice, optogenetics with human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neural networks, and non-intrusive precision measurements. Paradigm shifts were shown for digital interferometry better than the diffraction limit and digital holography in biophotonics, e.g. in lensless fiber endoscopy. The results have been translated into energy and process engineering, photonic information and biomedicine.

Sandro Carrara is an IEEE Fellow for his outstanding record of accomplishments in the field of design of nanoscale biological CMOS sensors. He is a faculty member (MER) at the EPFL in Lausanne (Switzerland). He is former professor of optical and electrical biosensors at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Biophysics (DIBE) of the University of Genoa (Italy) and former professor of nanobiotechnology at the University of Bologna (Italy). He holds a PhD in Biochemistry & Biophysics from University of Padua (Italy), a Master degree in Physics from University of Genoa (Italy), and a diploma in Electronics from National Institute of Technology in Albenga (Italy). His scientific interests are on electrical phenomena of nano-bio-structured films, and include CMOS design of biochips based on proteins and DNA. Along his carrier, he published 7 books, one as author with Springer on Bio/CMOS interfaces and, more recently, a Handbook of Bioelectronics with Cambridge University Press. He also published more than 200 scientific papers and is author of 12 patents. He is now Editor-in-Chief (Associate) of the IEEE Sensors Journal; he is also founder and Editor-in-Chief of the journal BioNanoScience by Springer, and Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems. He is a member of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. He is member at large of the IEEE Sensors Council. He has been appointed as CASS Distinguished Lecturer for the years 2013-2014. His work received several international recognitions: several Top-25 Hottest-Articles (2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, and two times in 2012) published in highly ranked international journals such as Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Sensors and Actuators B, IEEE Sensors journal, and Thin Solid Films; a NATO Advanced Research Award in 1996 for the original contribution to the physics of single-electron conductivity in nano-particles; three Best Paper Awards at the IEEE PRIME Conference in 2015 (Glasgow), in 2010 (Berlin), and in 2009 (Cork), a Best Poster Award at the Nanotera workshop in 2011 (Bern), and a Best Poster Award at the NanoEurope Symposium in 2009 (Rapperswil). He also received the Best Referees Award from the journal Biosensor and Bioelectronics in 2006. From 1997 to 2000, he was a member of an international committee at the ELETTRA Synchrotron in Trieste. From 2000 to 2003, he was scientific leader of a National Research Program (PNR) in the filed of Nanobiotechnology. He was an internationally esteemed expert of the evaluation panel of the Academy of Finland in a research program for the years 2010-2013. He has been the General Chairman of the Conference IEEE BioCAS 2014, the premier worldwide international conference in the area of circuits and systems for biomedical applications.

Dr. Karthik Shankar is Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta. He completed M.S. (2002) and Ph.D. (2007) degrees in Electrical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He was an Eastman Kodak research fellow (2003) at Penn State University. He obtained his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras in 2000 where he was awarded the Governor’s Gold Medal for all-round excellence. He joined the University of Alberta in 2009. From 2012-2017, he held a secondment to Canada’s NRC National Institute for Nanotechnology as a Research Officer. He made pioneering contributions to the growth, characterization and optoelectronic device applications of self-organized anodic metal oxide nanotube arrays. Recently, his research is focused on graphenic frameworks and plasmonic substrates as platforms for high performance, visible light-driven photocatalysis. He is a recipient of the Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award. He has authored over 150 journal articles that have collectively been cited almost 20,000 times. He has a h-index of 51. He serves as Editor for the Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics and IEEE Sensors Letters. Prof. Shankar serves as a referee for over two dozen journals including Nature Catalysis, Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Chemical Physics Letters, ACS Nano, Nanoscale, Organic Electronics, Journal of Power Sources, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, Physica Status Solidi, etc.

Ching-Ting Lee received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in the Electrical Engineering Department of the National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, in 1972 and 1974, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Electrical Engineering Department from the Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, in 1982. He worked at Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology, before he joined the Institute of Optical Sciences, National Central University, Chung-Li, Taiwan, as a professor in 1990. He joined on National Cheng Kung University as the Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from 2003 to 2009, and was the chair professor at the Institute of Microelectronics, Department of Electrical Engineering of the National Cheng Kung University. Now, he is the chair professor and vice president in Yuan Ze University. Among the awards and honors, he has received are Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of IET, the Outstanding Research Professor Fellowship from the National Science Council (NSC), Republic of China, distinguish service award from Institute of Electrical Engineering Society, the Optical Engineering Medal from Optical Engineering Society, Distinguish Electrical Engineering professor award from Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering Society, and Distinguish Engineering professor award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers. He received the ASIA’s Education Excellence Awards from Le Meridien Singapore and International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) Fellow from Sweden. His current research interests include nano materials and devices, biosensors, light emission of Si nanoclusters, nanostructure of solar cells, GaN-based light-emitting diodes and lasers, and GaN-based field effect transistors. His research activities have also investigated III-V semiconductor lasers, photodetectors and high-speed electronic devices, and their associated integration for electrooptical integrated circuits.

Prof. Efrat Lifshitz, earned a PhD at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. She did postdoctoral researchat the University of Michigan as well as at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. She joined the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology in 1990. Prof. Lifshitz holds the MatweiGunsbuourgh Academic Chairat the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry, Technion. Prof. Dr. Nazim T. Mamedov is the head of the laboratory of spectroscopic ellipsometry. His research activities are related to field-matter interaction in the radio to optical frequency range. DFT-based calculations of optical properties of the materials and structures he is focused on are supplementary included in his research. He has more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Currently he is engaged in several projects related to none-magnetic and magnetic semiconductors with non-trivial topology.

Wen-Ran Zhang obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of South Carolina – Columbia in 1986. He is now a professor of Computer Science Department, College of Engineering and Computing, Georgia Southern Uni¬ver¬sity, Statesboro, GA USA. Professor Zhang pioneered research in bipolar fuzzy sets (recognized by Lotfi A. Zadeh), multiagent brain modeling, bipolar dynamic logic, bipolar dynamic fuzzy logic, bipolar quantum linear algebra, bipolar quantum cellular automata, bipolar quantum geometry, quantum-fuzzy cognitive maps, information conservational computing/cryptography, bipolar dynamic organizational modeling, the geometry of light, the logic of photon, mind-light-matter unity, analytical quantum computing, quantum cognition and quantum intelligence (QC&QI). His representative works include YinYang Bipolar Relativity , logically definable causality, and bipolar universal modus ponens (BUMP) that have led to Ground-0 Axioms. His current research is on analytical quantum-neuro-fuzzy AI-machinery with geometrical and logical unification of mind, light, and matter. Hayk Sarkisyan is the director of the Institute of Engineering and Physics at the Russian-Armenian University. He received his habilitation doctorate in 2005. His current areas of research include the statistical and optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures.

Dr. Ioana Pintilie, is a 1st rank senior researcher at the National Institute of Materials Physics, Romania. She has numerous scientific publications on topics related to particle detectors for high-energy physics experiments, optoelectronic sensors, memory devices, phtovoltaic perovskit solar cells. She was awarded with fellowships from DAAD (Deutsches Akademisches Austauschdienst) (1998) and from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2006 - 2008). She has been guest scientist at University of Oslo and Visiting Professor at the University of Hamburg (2005 - 2013). Eduard Ghazaryan is a full professor in the General Physics and Quantum Nanostructures department at the Russian-Armenian University. He received his habilitation doctorate in 1982. His current areas of research include semiconductor nanostructures.

Karlheinz Blankenbach, has three decades of experience in displays and published more than 200 papers. He was appointed to full professor at Pforzheim University, Germany, where he founded the university's Display Lab. His main R&D activities are design, optical measurements and evaluation for displays and LEDs. Blankenbach is a committee member of the Society for Information Display.

Professor Kevin Storr is tenured in the Department of Physics and Chemistry at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View Texas. His area of research engages magnetic fields and low temperatures to elucidate the Magnetic, Electrical and Thermal properties of reduced dimension anisotropic materials. He has previously studied organic conductors, heavy fermion systems and hybridized boron nitride and graphene and is currently taking on studies of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides and Diamond Films.

Paytsar Mantashyan is a senior researcher at the General Physics and Quantum Nanostructures department at the Russian-Armenian University. She received her PhD in 2014. Her current areas of research include quantum optics.

Mikhail V. Maximovgraduated from the Leningrad Politechnical Institute in 1989. Since 1989 he worked at Ioffe Institute and since 2004 at Alferov University. He received Candidate of Science (PhD) and Doctor of Science (Habilitation) degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Ioffe Institute in 1995 and 2010, respectively. Mikhail V. Maximov co-authored more than 600 papers, reviews and chapters in books. In 2000 M.V. Maximov was awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship and worked at Technical University of Berlin. He was selected as the winner of the first IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics Best Paper Award (2001). In 2015 he received the Scopus Award Russia. Presently Mikhail V. Maximov is the head of Nanophotonic laboratory, which carry out research in the field of optical and laser studies, post-growth processing and theoretical simulations of various optoelectronic and nanophotonic devices.

Rami Ahmad El-Nabulsi holds a PhD in Particle Physics, Mathematical Physics and Modeling from Provence University (currently Aix-Marseille University), France and a diploma of advanced studies in Plasma Physics and Radiation Astrophysics from the same institution. He worked with different worldwide research departments in UK, South Korea, China, Greece, Thailand, India, etc. and he is currently affiliated to Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He is the author of more than 285 peer-reviewed papers in peer-refereed reputed journals and a reviewer for more than 100 scientific journals. His research ranges from applied mathematics to theoretical physics including nonlinear dynamical systems, space and astrophysics, general relativity and geometrical physics, Lie algebroids, physics and chemistry of solids, plasma MHD, neutronics and nuclear reactors, superconductivity and magnetic materials among others.

David Hayrapetyan is a head of the General Physics and Quantum Nanostructures department at the Russian-Armenian University. In 2009, he received his Ph.D. in Physics from Yerevan State University. His research focuses on the physical properties of quantum nanostructures.

Pradip Gatkine is David & Ellen Lee prize postdoctoral fellow at Caltech. He received his PhD in Astronomy from the University of Maryland in July 2020. His photonic research includes the development of next-generation astrophotonic instrumentation for large telescopes. He is currently developing moderate resolution astrophotonic arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) spectrographs and OH-suppressing notch filters for astronomical telescopes. He led an Astro-2020 white paper on astrophotonics in the next decade. On the astrophysics side, he is interested in studying the metal enrichment history and mechanisms, especially using gamma-ray bursts as probes. He is currently studying the properties of the circumgalactic medium (CGM) at high redshifts (z > 2) and the galaxy-CGM relationship. He will be starting as a NASA Hubble Fellow at Caltech in September 2021.

Yahia CHERGUI is an assistant Professor in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Institute, Boumerdes Algeria. He has completed his PhD from Badji Mokhtar University in Annaba, Algeria. He did all his PhD work in Cardiff University in UK. His research field is Physics(condensed matter, and soft matter simulation by molecular dynamics). Prof. Jose’s research interests are in the areas of materials for optical fibre comunication and biosensors for healthcare and chemical sensing which can be summarised as photonic materials and devices. The materials that are studied include new type of glasses and nanoparticles with light emitting or fluorescence properties. Apart from chemical synthesis of special glasses and nanomaterials, a laser based materials processing that Prof. Jose invented is the technology behind some of the key developments in the sectors above. The method called femtosecond pulsed laser deposition and plasma implantation can be used to modify surface composition of glass/silicon/polymer materials and can be used to engineer light waveguides and photonic biosensors. Prof. Jose is leading a number research projects in these areas funded by EPSRC-UK, NIHR- UK etc. Glasses and seminconductors functionalised using the laser process are technologically important for a number of sectors such as non-invasive biosensing, integrated photonics, anti-counterfeiting/printing in glass bottles and toughening of glass/polymer screens for displays. A number of researchers and industrial partners are involved in these research and development activities of his group. Prof. Jose is actively invovled in commercialising the technologies developed with the support of researchers, industrial partners and investors.NIQS Technology is focusing on non-invasive biosensors, with focus on continuous glucose monitoring in people with diabetes. Prof. Jose received his MSc and PhD degrees in Physics from University of Calicut, India and Mahatma Gandhi University, India respectively. He was a research fellow at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy during 2001-2002. In 2003 he joined the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and was a Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor there until 2007. In 2007, he joined School of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Leeds, UK as Senior Research Fellow and Project Manager, and since March 2013 he is the Professor and Chair in Functional Materials there.

Fauzia Jabeen earned her Master’s degree in Physics from University of Punjab, Pakistan, working on ZnO and ZnS Thin films; she then pursued her diploma in condensed matter physics from the Abdus-SalamInternational centre for theoretical physics (ICTP), Italy, in 2004 working on Growth and characterization of InAs QDs by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Nanotechnology/Physics at the University ofTrieste, Italy. Her PhD work on Nanowires growth and characterization attracted lot of interest and FJhas been around in Europe (France, Switzerland, England) as a researcher and specialist in the growth of semiconductor, particularly Arsenides and phosphides. FJ was responsible for the material research for “Polaritronics” project at EPFL Lausanne. Currently, FJruns MBE group at TEP-University of Wuerzburg working on various national and international projects. She servesas a reviewer for various international journals.

Lucio CALCAGNILE is Full Professor of Applied Physics in Italy at the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Salento since 2005. He was guest scientist at AMOLF Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics in Amsterdam at the Tandetron Laboratory – CNRS Gif sur Ivette, France, the AGLAE Laboratory, Ministry of Culture, in Paris and at the Leibniz Labor for Isotope Analyses, University of Kiel, Germany. In 2000 he realized, and is currently the director, the CEDAD-CEnter of Applied Physics, DAting and Diagnostics of the University of Salento. He is leader of the Applied Physics Group and Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics and Physics, University of Salento where he is member of the Scientific Committee of the School of Excellence ISUFI (Higher Institute for Interdisciplinary Training). His research interests include materials engineering and characterization of new materials, photocatalytic materials, sensors and radiation detectors by ion beam analysis techniques, ion and laser interaction with matter, ion beam implantation, accelerator mass spectroscopy, stable and radioactive isotope analyses for applications in Environmental Sciences and cultural heritage. He was co-chairman of the AMS-11 The Eleventh International Conference on Accelerator Mass Spectrometry held in Rome in 2008. He is a member of the International Advisory Committee of the AMS Conference, C14 and Archaeology, Environment and Radiocarbon Conferences. His teaching activity includes courses in General Physics, Applied Physics, Nuclear Analysis of Materials, Optics, Physical Techniques for Environmental Sciences. He is coauthor of more than 200 scientific papers on international journals and was responsible for various national and international research projects on Material Science. He gave more than 50 invited talks and lectures in Italy and abroad.

Wenwei Liu is a research associate at Nankai University, China. He received his Ph.D. degree in optics in 2018 at the Key Laboratory of Weak Light Nonlinear Photonics, Ministry of Education, Nankai University. Since 2018, he was a research associate in Nankai University. He has published research papers in Optica, Advanced Materials, Laser & Photonics Reviews, Physical Review B / Applied, Optics Letters in the topic of photonic manipulations with metasurfaces. His current research interests include informational metasurfaces, design and integration of dielectric meta-photonics.

Dr. Sharafat Ali is an Associate Professor in glass science and technology at the Linnæus University, Växjö, Sweden. From Jan 2017 until June 2018, he was on sabbatical at Corning Incorporated, NY, USA. Dr. Sharafat earned a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (1999) and Master in Materials Processing Technology (2002) from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm Sweden. After receiving a Master degree, he worked as a research engineer at Volvo Wheel Loader AB and Swedish Steel AB. Sharafat obtained his Ph.D. degree in March 2009 from Stockholm University, Sweden. During his Post-doc (2009-2012) at the Linnæus University, Sweden and Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan. Dr. Sharafat is a pioneer of the nitrogen rich oxynitride glasses and thin films. He has first-hand experience in the synthesis, characterization and properties evaluation of new materials. In 2017, Dr. Sharafat won the Fulcher Award of The Year from Corning Incorporated NY, USA. Dr. Sharafat Ali is the Co-founder and board member of HPViCo AB, startup companyto commercialize hard optical coatings. Dr. Sharafat has authored or co-authored more than 70research publications, primarily on nitrogen rich glasses and thin films and surface modification of materials.

Prof. Hrvoje Kušić is born in Zagreb, Croatia. He is currently employed at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology (FCET) as Professor. He received B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemical Technology from FCET, while Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering was received from the same institution in 2006. His research interests include advanced oxidation technologies for water treatment; design and development of solar-active materials; process simulation and optimization; fate and behavior of CECs; waste management; and from recently, microplastics. He is head of research group on advanced oxidation technologies and solar-active materials. He is currently involved in several research projects, mainly on solar photocatalysis. He is (co)author of >100 publications (>80 papers in peer-review journals) and holds >2500 citations (h-index 26).

Andrés Vercik was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1968. He received the B.S. degree in Physics in 1995 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2000 from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1998 was Visiting Researcher at University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy. From 1992 to 2000 he lectured at University of Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina. From 2000 to 2003, he was with the Photoluminescence and Transport Group at Federal University of São Carlos, São Carlos, SP, Brazil. From 2003 to 2004 he lectured at Federal University of São Carlos, São Carlos, SP, Brazil. Since 2003, he has been a Professor at University of São Paulo, Pirassununga, SP, Brazil. He leads the Nanotechnology, Biosensors and Devices Laboratory and the Advanced Materials Gorup. His main research interests include Device Physics, Microelectronics, Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials for Sensors and Biosensors, Green Synthesis of Nanomaterials, Tunneling and Transport Mechanisms, Electrical Properties of Nanostructured and 2D Materials, disordered materials, graphene related materials, memritors and memories.

Javad Foroughi is a Senior Research Fellow at Intelligent Polymer Research Institute, University of Wollongong and a recipient of Australian Research Council DECRA Fellowship. Dr Foroughi received the B.S. and MS degree in Engineering (Fibre Science - Textile Chemistry) in 1997 Iran and the PhD degree in Material Engineering from School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering, University of Wollongong, Australia in 2009. Dr Foroughi has pioneered the field of electrofunctional materials and he is widely acknowledged as the inventor of electrochemical torsional actuators based on carbon nanotube yarn (published in Science 2011). His research focuses on the development of electrofunctional nano-materials for actuation, sensing, smart textiles and energy conversion. Dr Foroughi is a pioneer in the field of nanotechnology whose current research focuses in part on developing new technologies for harvesting and storing energy, new types of artificial muscles, the fabrication, characterization and application of carbon nanotube, graphene yarns, sensors, new material synthesis, and fundamental structure-properties relationships for materials. Dr Foroughi has published more than 150 articles and a growing national and international recognition through various awards and invited presentations. In addition Dr Foroughi has supervised 15 PhD students.

Yu-Lin Song received the M.S. degree in the department of physics from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1998 and the Ph.D. degree in the department of physics from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2005. I am currently an professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering at the Asia University since Feb. 2016, with research focus on “Ultrasound imaging in medicine and biology”, “Semiconductor Biosensor”, “Power device design and simulation technology” and “Medicine Delivery Process Technologies”. He has published more than 30 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute.

Saif Al Graiti completed his undergraduate study in Telecommunication Engineering Technology at Najaf Technical College in Iraq from 2006 to 2010. He worked at the Omnnea cellular company in the research and development department from 2010 to 2011, and at the University of Kufa's Information Technology Research and Development Center from 2012 to 2013. He received a scholarship from the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq for graduate studies in the United States and completed his Telecommunication Engineering Technology MS degree with Thesis at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 2016. He completed his Engineering PhD degree in the Communications Domain at RIT in 2021 under the guidance of Dr. Drew Maywar. Dr. Al Graiti has coauthored 4 journal papers and 3 conference papers. His research experiences and interests include fiber-optic communication devices such as lasers, optical modulators, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), and polarizers; photonic integrated circuit (PIC) modeling, layout, fabrication, and wafer-level testing; analytical and computational modeling; optimization; and data analysis.

Vishal Gupta completed his PhD in Electronic Engineering at University of Rome, Tor Vergata, Italy. Currently, he is associated with the Department of Electronic Engineering at University of Rome “Tor Vergata” as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where he has also been associated with the Defect & Fault Tolerance Group. He is a winner of “Borsa di studio” fellowship in 2021 and recipient of “Fully Funded University Scholarship Scheme” from 2017-2020 for the PhD in Electronic Engineering by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), Italy. Currently, he is working on various novel applications of resistive switching devices and circuits including reliability analysis. He has also published various articles in peer-reviewed Journals and various International Conferences. He has been awarded Young Researcher Award in 2020, Best Paper Award in Design & Technology of Integrated Circuit (DTIS) 2019, Young Scientist award & Young Scientist Fellowship award by the M.P. Council of Science and Technology, Government of Madhya Pradesh, India in 2016. His principal research interest lies in the field of Device Characterization and Modelling, Design issues in Nanotechnology (Memristors, FinFET, CMOS), VLSI Design and Design for Testability (Analog & Digital), Fault-Tolerant Design techniques, Manufacturing Defects, Process Variation & Yield and Reliability Characterization.

Prof (Dr.) Partha S Mallick is working as a Sr. Professor of Electronics Engineering, in Vellore Institute of Technology, India. He was the Dean of School of Electrical Engineering (2011-15). Dr Mallick led various research teams and developed "Online Lab in Microelectronics", "Monte Carlo Simulator of Compound Semiconductors", "Nanostructured MIM Capacitor", "Low cost Electric Fencers" and published 118 research papers in different Journals and conferences of international repute. Dr Mallick is a regular reviewer different Journals of IET, IEEE Transactions, Bentham Science, Elsevier and Taylors & Francis. Dr Mallick is a speaker of Elsevier Research Connect Forum, India. Dr Mallick organized the 1st World Summit on Science, Engineering and Technology at University of Cambridge, UK in January 2018 and the 2nd Summit jointly with Indiana University-Purdue University (IUPUI), Indianapolis, USA in October, 2019. He is finding new materials and technology for future nano scale electronics, VLSI circuit engineering and interconnects. Some of his published books and book chapters are: “Crosstalk Analysis in Carbon Nanotube Interconnects” Springer, UK (2020), “Anodic MIM Capacitors” (book chapter), IET, UK (2016), “Matlab and Simulink – Introduction to Applications”, Scitech Publishers, India (2010). He is a Sr. Member of IEEE and Chapter Adviser, EDS-VIT Asia Pacific Region. Dr Mallick is the Director, Ranking and Accreditation of VIT and works as mentor and strategists for higher Educational Institutions.

ValentynNastasenko is the Professor of department of transport technologies of Kherson State Maritime Academy, Kherson, Ukraine. The scope of scientific interests includes quantum physics, gravitation theory, and the foundations of the material world and the birth of the Universe – the author of more than 80 scientific papers in these fields.
