Prof. Jonathan Baell is a world renowned Medicinal Chemist with more than 25 years of experience at the public-private interface, whose research is focused on the discovery of new medicines for treating diseases with an unmet medical need. From 2004, Prof. Baell has authored of more than 100 primary publications with almost half as first/senior author, frequently in top specialist journal J. Med. Chem., but also Nat. Chem. Biol., Nature, Nat. Comm., NAR, PNAS, BJP, Sci. Rep., JOC, Chem. Eur. J., Chem Comm., Antivir. Res.; reviews predominantly as first/senior author, in top specialist journals such as Chem. Biol., J. Nat. Prod., ACS Chem. Biol., J. Med. Chem.; prestigious commentaries or perspectives, 7 as first/senior author, in Nature and Nat. Chem. Biol. Prof. Baell' s translational efforts in medicinal chemistry have resulted in body of protected intellectual property of great depth (>40 granted patents listed in www.lens.org representing >25 separate patents most of which are alive and licensed to different parties) and outcomes which include drug candidates progressing into clinical trials. Prof. Baell won a national medicinal chemistry award for an early to mid-career researcher for his discovery of a new class of potential multiple sclerosis therapeutics – the Biota Award, followed later in 2018 by Australia’s highest medicinal chemistry award, the Adrien Albert Award for Sustained Excellence in Medicinal Chemistry, then in 2019 the Monash University Research Award for the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, in 2020 the Scientific Achievement Award in Drug Discovery and Development, awarded by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and in 2021 The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) Clunies Ross Award for Knowledge Commercialization.

I hold the Alan Mackay-Sim Distinguished Chair of Cancer Cell Biology at Griffith University (Inaugural Chair), Nathan, Brisbane, Queensland and I am a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia Senior Principal Research Fellow. I am a multi-disciplinary medicinal chemist/biochemist/pharmacologist whose career has spanned metabolism, medicinal chemistry, drug design/development/commercialisation, cancer biology, and neurobiology. I have published 460 articles, reviews, patents, chapters etc., over my career with >93% as first, senior or corresponding author (H-index: 100; >43,000 citations over entire career; Google Scholar 12/1/22; with >18,500 citations over the past 5 years and H-index of 60 over the past 5 years; Google Scholar 12/1/22). Recently, I was awarded the international Otto Krayer Award in Pharmacology 2022 from the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). I am Executive Editor of BBA-General Subjects and have served on the Ed. Boards of 48 journals, including: JBC, Antioxidants Redox Signaling, Biochem. J., Free Rad. Biology Med., Pharmacol. Res., J. Clin. Pathology (Assoc. Ed.), Int. J. Biochem. Cell Biology, BBA-Mol. Cell. Res., Mol. Pharmacol., Pharmacol. Res., Cancers, etc. As a major translational research achievement, I developed the anti-cancer and anti-metastatic drug, DpC, which overcomes P-glycoprotein-mediated resistance and up-regulates the potent metastasis suppressor, NDRG1. This has led to commercialization of DpC and the international company, Oncochel Therapeutics LLC, USA and its Australian subsidiary, Oncochel Therapeutics Pty Ltd. Notably, DpC entered multi-centre Phase I clinical trials for advanced and resistant cancer. These anti-cancer drugs target the lysosome via the P-glycoprotein transporter.

Professor Prosper graduated from the University of Navarra in 1989 and after his residency and PhD he completed his fellowship an postdoctoral training at the University of Minnesota. Relocated to the Clinic a Universidad de Navarra in 2001, he was responsible for the development the cell therapy program where he became head and became the Head of Hematology and Cell Therapy in 2003 and Director of the programs of Hematology and Cell Therapy at the center for Applied Medical Research at the University of Navarra in 2012. Felipe’s principal research interest and key discoveries have been focused on several specific areas Understanding epigenetic changes present in patients with hematological malignancies, mainly multiple myeloma and leukemia-MDS. We have identified changes in gene methylation, expression of microRNAs and chromatin modifications that are associated with prognosis and treatment response Identification of new epigenetic targets and design of new molecules: based on the analysis of epigenetic and epigenomic changes in patients with hematological neoplasms we have validated new targets and signal transduction pathways involved in the pathogenesis of the disease and generated new chemical compounds that target epigenetic enzymes. Stem cell biology and stem cell therapy for human diseases: our group has been working of the potential of stem cells as therapeutics for a variety of applications including cardiac regeneration nd orthopedic diseases Clinical trials in patients with multiple myeloma and leukemia-MDS Professor Prosper has published more than 240 peer review articles in top journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Genetics, Blood, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Leukemia, Genome Research or Oncogene among others with an H-factor of 58 and over 13.000 citations and has given more than 300 lectures. His laboratory is funded through national and international grants including competitive programs such as IMF, European Union (FP6, FP7 and H2020), Spanish Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and has obtained more than 50 grants. He has received multiple awards and prizes and has mentored over 30 PhD students and postdocs during his career

Brian Blagg is the Charles Huisking Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Director of the Warren Family Research Center for Drug Discovery and Development at Notre Dame. After earning B.A.’s in Chemistry and Environmental Studies at Sonoma State University, and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Utah (Dale Poulter), he received an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship and performed research at The Scripps Research Institute with Dale Boger. Blagg started his independent career in medicinal chemistry at the University of Kansas in 2002. In the fall of 2017, he moved to the University of Notre Dame wherein his lab continues to focus on chaperone proteins and protein folding in relation to cancer and neurodegeneration. Cancers are inherently more dependent on chaperone proteins because of their constant division and cellular stress. Consequently, Blagg’s team works to selectively inhibit chaperone proteins to halt cancer growth. In contrast, his lab also studies the potential for utilizing chaperones to re-fold malfunctioning and/or aggregated proteins for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and glaucoma. Brian Blagg is married to Leah Blagg and has three children, ranging in ages between 10 and 23. When not thinking about science, Blagg can be found with his family and friends.

Dr. Rosanna Di Paola, PhD in Experimental Medicine, PhD in Biotechnology Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology and Specialized in Clinical Pathology, is now Full Professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the University of Messina, Italy. She is the author of over 335 publications in renowned journals and 11,692 citations. His areas of scientific interest are autoimmunity, acute and chronic inflammation and modulation of the signal pathway. Thanks to her long experience in laboratory approaches, Di Paola Rosanna has developed and acquired various skills in analytical methodologies including experimental animal model, histology, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology techniques for the study of protein expression.

William Donaldson is President and Acting CEO of Estrigenix Therapeutics, Inc., a startup drug discovery company focused on women’s health. Bill earned his B.A. in Chemistry from Wesleyan University (CT), his Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from Dartmouth College (Russell Hughes), and received postdoctoral training at Brandeis University with the late Prof. Myron Rosenblum. He started an academic career at Marquette University in 1983 and rose through the ranks to Full Professor by 1996. He received the John P. Raynor Excellence in Teaching Award (1995) and the Lawrence G. Haggerty Faculty Award for Research Excellence (2021) both from Marquette University, as well as the ACS Milwaukee Section Award (2010). In May 2021, Bill retired from active teaching and service to focus on leading Estrigenix. The company has a patented, pre-clinical drug lead which moderates hot flashes and improves memory in a mouse model for menopause.

Ajay Kumar Mishra (MSc, MPhil, PhD, CSci, FRSC) is currently working as Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry, School of Applied Sciences, KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar, India. Professor Mishra is also affiliated as Director at the Academy of Nanotechnology and Waste Water Innovations, South Africa, Visiting Professor(s) at Robert Gordon University, UK, Bashkir State University, Russia, Vaal University of Technology, South Africa, Hebei University of Science and Technology, China and Adjunct Professor at Jiangsu University, China. Huang Wei Ling, born in Taiwan, raised and graduated in medicine in Brazil, specialist in infectious and parasitic diseases, a General Practitioner and Parenteral and Enteral Medical Nutrition Therapist. Once in charge of the Hospital Infection Control Service of the City of Franca’s General Hospital, she was responsible for the control of all prescribed antimicrobial medication and received an award for the best paper presented at the Brazilian Hospital Infection Control Congress in 1998. Since 1997, she works with the approach and treatment of all chronic diseases in a holistic way, with treatment guided through the teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hippocrates. Dr. Donato Bonifazi is an economist specialised in European Project Management and Chief Executive Officer at CVBF, a non-profit research consortium with 20 years’ experience in paediatric research, based in Italy and Albania. He is between the founders of INCiPiT, the Italian Network for paediatric clinical trials, and of the first two YPAGs (Young Persons Advisory Groups) in Italy (KIDS Bari) and Albania (Tirana). He has been Trial Leader of two EU-funded Projects (DEferiprone Evaluation in Paediatrics and GAbapentin for Paediatric Pain, both funded within the FP7-Health), each involving more than 20 clinical centers from European and Mediterranean countries.He is the task 6.6 leader in the conect4children (c4c) - COllaborative Network for European Clinical Trials For Children projectand WP3 Leader within PedCRIN (Paediatric Clinical Research Infrastructure Network), dedicated to the development of tools to facilitate paediatric clinical trials. He is member of the Paediatric Working Group of the EUCROF (European Clinical Research Organizations Federation) and member of the Coordinating Group at the Enpr-EMA (the European Network of Paediatric Research at the European Medicines Agency) representing the TEDDY European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Research. He is Coordinator of EPTRI (European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure).

Hui LI, Tenured professor of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology. Her disciplines are coordination chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and crystallography. Her research interests focus on fluorescent-functional coordination complexes, chiral nucleotide coordination complexes and metal cyclodextrin complexes. She obtained Ph.D. degree in 1997 in The State Key Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry, Nanjing University, China. Then, she spent two years in Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science as post-doctoral fellow. From1999 to 2001, she was a Royal Society Research Fellow (K.C. Wong Research Fellowship) in University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Following, she was a Research Fellow, National Taiwan University and Institute of Chemistry, Academic Sinica (in Taipei) till 2003. She has been appointed as associate professor in Department of Chemistry, Beijing Institute of Technology since 2003. From 2013, she has joined Sir Fraser Stoddart (2016 Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry) Laboratory as a senior visiting scholar in Northwestern University, USA. She received several honors including Beijing Distinguished Teacher Award, Beijing Institute of Technology Distinguished Teacher Award and so on.

Giuliano Cesar Clososki completed his undergraduate studies (1999) and got his Master degree in Chemistry (2000) at the Federal University of Paraná (Brazil) under the supervision of Prof. Fabio Simonelli.He spent one year at the University of California working with Prof. Bruce H. Lipshutz (2003) and got his Ph.D degree at the University of São Paulo (2005) under the supervision of Prof. João V. Comasseto. After working one year with Prof. José A. R. Rodrigues (Brazil) and two years with Prof. P. Knochel (Germany) as postdoctoral researcher, in 2008 he accepted the position of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto – University of São Paulo, where since 2016 he is an Associated Professor. His actual research interests include the development of new synthetic and the synthesis of bioactive molecules for pharmaceutical applications.

Dr. Roberto S. da Silva has received his PhD from the Universidade Estadual Júlio de Mesquita Filho – UNESP – Brazil in 1992. He is a Professor at University of São Paulo, in Pharmaceutical Sciences School of Ribeirao Preto, since 1986. He has proposed, developed and tested many ruthenium-based compounds, some of which form the core of cancer-fighting compounds. His research area is bioinorganic chemistry with focus in phototherapy. He was a post-doctoral fellow at University of California/Santa Barbara USA, National Institute of Health and visiting professor at Harvard Medical School. He has published more than 120 articles and 6 book chapters.

Dr. Raghunandan Deshpande received his PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, Hyderabad (JNTU), India, in Pharmaceutical Sciences in the specialization of Nanobiotechnology on the topic ‘Silver Nanoparticles as Drug Delivery Systems’. He is working as Professor and Head in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, HKES’s Matoshree Taradevi Rampure Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences working since 15 years. He is also working as Principle collaborator in the project sponsored with Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences BRNS, (Department of Atomic Energy, DAE).
