Dr. Shi Xue Douis a Distinguished Professor at the University of Wollongong, the founding director of ISEM. He received his Ph.D. at Dalhousie University, Canada in 1984 andDSc at the University of New South Wales in 1998 and was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 1994. He was awarded the Australian Government’s Centenary Medal in 2003 and Australian Order of Member in 2019 for his contribution to materials science and engineering, multiple Australian Professorial Fellowships from 1993 to 2011, the vice-Chancellors Senior Excellence Award in 2008, OutstandingPartnership Award in 2012, the Life Achievement Award from ASTS in 2018 and Lifetime Achever by Australian Research Magazine in 2020. He is named as a highly cited researcher in materials science by Thomson Reuters with citations of 54,000 and an h-index of 109 (Scopus). His research focuses on energy and electronic materials. He has supervised and co-supervised 100 PhD students, more than 60 postdoctoral and visiting fellows. He is program leader for Auto CRC 2020 on electrification program and the on-going ARENA 2016-2020 on smart sodium storage system program.

Dr. Anne M. Gaffney is the Chief Science Officer of Idaho National Laboratory and Distinguished National Lab Fellow (2014 – present). She has thirty-four years of experience working in industry inventing and commercializing new technologies for major chemical manufacturing companies including Koch Industries, Lummus Technology, Dow, Dupont and ARCO Chemical Company. She has authored 155 publications and 256 patents. Dr. Gaffney is also a distinguished Joint Appointment Fellow at the University of South Carolina (2018 – present) where she is the Technical Director of the National Science Foundation Center for Rational Catalyst Synthesis. Some of her recent awards include: the 2019 American Chemical Society, Energy & Fuels, Distinguished Researcher Award in Petroleum Chemistry; the 2015 Eugene J. Houdry Award of the North American Catalysis Society; the Chemical Heritage Foundation, Women in Science Inductee, 2014; and the American Chemical Society, Industrial Chemistry Award, 2013. Dr. Gaffney received her BA in chemistry and mathematics from Mount Holyoke College and her Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from University of Delaware.

Prof. Shaobin Wang obtained the degrees of BSc and MSc in Chemistry from Peking University and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland. He has been a John Curtin Distinguished Professor at Curtin University and is now a Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials, the University of Adelaide. His research interests focus on nanomaterial synthesis and application for adsorption and catalysis, fuel and energy conversion and environmental remediation. He has published more than 500 refereed journal papers with citations over 51000and H-index= 127 (Google Scholar). He was awarded 2012 Thomson Reuters Citation & Innovation Awards in Australia and is listed as a highly cited researcher in Engineering and Chemistry in 2016-2020. He is a co-editor of Journal of Colloid and Interface and associate editor of Chemical Engineering Journal Advances as well as an editorial board member of several international journals.

Prof. Litter is Dr. in Chemistry (Buenos Aires University, Argentina), with postdoctoral studies at the University of Arizona, USA. She is a Senior Researcher of the National Research Council and a Full Professor at the National University of General San Martín. She has more than 200 scientific publications in international journals, books, and book chapters. She received the Mercosur Prize in Science and Technology (2006 and 2011), the Charreau Prize to the Regional Scientific-Technological Cooperation, and the Prize for Latin American Women in Chemistry (2021). She was designated pioneer on photocatalysis in Argentina, is a Member of TWAS and ACAL.

Dr. Zhuowu Menreceived his Ph. D from China University of Petroleum in 2000. He engaged in R&D of hydrogenation technology and indirect coal liquefaction technology during working in SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing and Beijing Research Institute of China Shenhua Coal to Liquid and Chemical Corporation Ltd. Now, he acts as the director of coal indirect liquefaction COE in National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy (NICE), and is in charge of R&D of indirect coal to liquid technology. Thehydro-upgrading technology for direct coal liquefaction oils, which had been developed by his team, had been successfully applied to the demonstration project of Shenhua direct coal liquefaction. And the catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, which had been developed by his team had been successfully applied to Ningmei’s 400,Mt tons/a indirect coal liquefaction plant. He won the Sun Yueqi Youth Science and Technology Award in 2006.

Xiangqun Zeng is currently a distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Department of Chemistry at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, USA. She received her Ph.D. in electrochemistry and surface chemistry from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1997. Her research program focuses on analytical, surface and electrochemistry at solid electrode interfaces and development of new analytical techniques. She has established an internationally recognized, interdisciplinary research program in interface chemistry, chemical sensor and biosensors. She held overten patents and her lab has published over 100 peer review papers. She is an Editorial Board member of Journal of Electrochemistry, an organizer for 18th international meeting on chemical sensors, and a reviewer for a broad range US federal funding agency. Besides research, Dr. Zeng is an excellent mentor and educator and has trained over 80 students/postdoc trainees. She was featured in a book entitled “Women Who Changed the World the Journey and the Joy” (Sunbury Press Inc. 2015).

Dr. Geraldo Nery is a material scientist currently working as an Associated Professor at São Paulo State University UNESP in the Physics Department. The main focus of scientific work are related to the zeolite and inorganic nanomaterials chemistry aiming the application of these materials as industrial heterogeneous catalysts, environmental remediation and new materials for biomedical applications. Dr. Nery is intensively involved in scientific cooperation with private companies, seeking for possible technological innovation of their products through advanced science and technology. One of the greatest joy of Dr. Nery is the fact that many of his former students have decided to pursuit their scientific career as researchers in private companies and have also started their own start-ups companies based on the experience gained during their PhD research under in his research group.

Noor Ashrina A. Hamid completed her Ph.D in 2013 at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany with a thesis entitled "Cathode Materials Produced from Spray Flame Synthesis for Li-Ion Batteries" She graduated from University Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Master of Science with a thesis entitled "Development of La1-xSrxCo0.2Fe0.8O3 (LSCF) Cathodes for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (IT-SOFCs)" in 2009. She began working as a teaching assistant at University Sains Malaysia's School of Chemical Engineering after graduated from University Technology Malaysia in 2004. Currently, she holds a position as a senior lecturer and is actively engaged in oxide metal nanomaterials for energy storage applications as well as turning waste into wealth by converting biomass waste into hydrochar.
