Dr. Carlos Cordon-Cardo earned his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1980), and his PhD in Cell Biology and Genetics from Cornell University (1985). Dr. Cordon-Cardo is Professor and Chair System-Wide of the Department of Pathology, Molecular and Cell-Based Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Health System. He was previously Professor and Vice-Chair of Pathology at Columbia University; and from 1987 to 2006 a faculty member in the Department of Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he created the Division of Molecular Pathology and served as its first Director; scaling the academic ranks from Assistant to Professor of Pathology at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University. A pioneer of the oncologic molecular pathology discipline, Dr. Cordon-Cardo has helped establish a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of human cancers and new targets for cancer therapeutics, enhancing the vision of personalized medicine. His analyses of multi-drug resistance and alterations of tumor suppressor genes in human cancer have led to extraordinary breakthroughs in the way scientists understand and investigate the progression of certain solid-tumor cancers. More recently, studies from his laboratory have linked adult stem cells and cancer, reporting the discovery of a subpopulation of tumor initiating cells with stem properties which are also related to chemoresistance, immune-escape mechanism, and metastatic spread. He has developed and implemented a novel “systems pathology” platform, using artificial intelligence tools including deep-learning and novel algorithms, generating highly accurate mathematical models of cancer with the goal of optimizing treatment and improving patient outcome. During the present COVID-19 pandemic he designed and implemented a laboratory testing platform that includes qualitative and quantitative assays for viral SARS-CoV-2 detection and diagnosis, as well as qualitative and quantitative antibody testing for monitoring immunity and selection of antibody-rich convalescent individuals as potential plasma donors. The serology tests were given emergency use authorization (EUA) from both the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the FDA, as well as the CE-markering as an in vitro diagnostic device by the European Union. Under his leadership, over 250 autopsies of deceased COVID-19 patients were performed, being the largest series documented to date, and revealing novel pathophysiology stages of the disease. Dr. Cordon-Cardo is Principal Investigator on several National Cancer Institute grants, and has received uninterrupted NIH/NCI funding for the past 30 years. Dr. Cordon-Cardo has lectured widely and is one of the “Highly Cited Authors” by the Institute of Scientific Information, one of the “Highly Influential Biomedical Researchers” (one of the top 400 over 15,153,100 author identifiers) by the European Society for Clinical Investigation; and one of the top “List of 500 Most Highly Cited Researchers Worldwide,” Google Scholar(107,162; h-index 163; i10-index 537 - as of 07/07/2021).Dr. Cordon-Cardo holds 32 filed patents, including granted and pending, in the fields of medical diagnostics and therapeutics; and his work has been quoted in over 350,000 scholarly citations, including 8,069 patent citations (https://www.lens.org).Committed to educating the newest generation of scientists in his field, Dr. Cordon-Cardo has mentored over 70 investigators throughout his career. Professor Yusuke Yamauchi received his Bachelor's degree (2003), Master's degree (2004), and Ph.D. degree (2007) from the Waseda University, Japan. After receiving his Ph.D., he joined the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, to start his own research group. At the same time, he started to serve as an adjunct professor to supervise Ph.D. students at the Department of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, Waseda University. Nobuo Shimamoto is an emeritus professor of National Institute of Genetics and Graduate School of Sokendai. He has been engaging in mechanistic study on biological regulation, especially transcription. He first provided the evidence of one-dimensional diffusion of proteins along DNA and inactive conformation of RNA polymerase producing abortive transcripts, moribund complex. He recently propose "chemical ratchet" with theoretical researchers to explain why the binding affinity of a regulator and its operator can depend on the length of DNA harboring the operator.

Dr. Vo-Dinh is R. Eugene and Susie E. Goodson Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Professor of Chemistry, and Director of the Fitzpatrick Institute for Photonics at Duke University. Dr. Arthur P. Grollman is Distinguished Professor of Pharmacological Sciences and Evelyn Glick Professor of Experimental Medicine at Stony Brook University. Petar M. Djurić received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Rhode Island, Kingston. He is a SUNY Distinguished Professor and currently a Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, USA. His research has been in the area of signal and information processing with primary interests in the theory of Monte Carlo-based methods; Bayesian machine learning; signal modeling, detection, and estimation; signal and information processing over networks; RFID and the IoT. Recently, his research has been applied to problems related to machine learning methods for intrapartum fetal monitoring and brain signals. He has been invited to lecture at many universities in the United States and overseas. Prof. Djurić was a recipient of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award in 2007 and the EURASIP Technical Achievement Award in 2012. In 2008, he was the Chair of Excellence of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid-Banco de Santander. From 2008 to 2009, he was a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Steve Busby is Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham. His research concerns bacteria and how they orchestrate the expression of their genes in order to exploit their environment. He has made big contributions to our understanding of the process of gene transcription in bacteria and how it is regulated. In particular, his recent work has focused on pathogenic bacteria and the genes they possess that are responsible for infection.

Dr. Guojun Chen is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering at McGill University. Dr. Chen obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017. He received postdoctoral training at UCLA before he joined McGill University in 2021. His research focuses on engineering novel biomaterials and devices for enhanced cancer immunotherapy and gene therapy. Raoul Rashid Nigmatullin received his Master Degree on specialization of theoretical physics from Kazan State University, Russia. In 1995 and 1996 he won twice the competition among Russian and Ex-Soviet Union scientists, working in the universities of Moscow, S-Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk and other leading universities and got the financial support from the International Soros Fund for two years to continue his scientific and pedagogical activity in Kazan University. Kenta Nakai was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1963. He received the PhD degree on the prediction of subcellular localization sites of proteins from Kyoto University in 1992. From 1989, he has worked at several institutions, including, Kyoto University, National Institute of Basic Biology, and Osaka University. From 1999 to 2003, he was an Associate Professor at the Human Genome Center, the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo, Japan. Since 2003, he has been a full Professor at the same institute. His main research interest is to develop computational ways for interpreting biological information, especially that of transcriptional regulation, from genome sequence data. In 2020, he was awarded the first JSBi Prize for his research activity on “Genome and protein sequence analysis, especially for prediction of subcellular localization signals” by the Japanese Society of Bioinformatics. He has published more than 160 papers, three of which have been cited more than 1000 times.

Takahito Ohshiro was born in Shizuoka, Japan, in 1973. He received the PhD degree on a study of single-molecule biopolymer electrical detection (“STM Molecular Tips for Electrically Pinpointing Complementary Nucleobases”) from the University of Tokyo, Japan, 2008. From 2009, he has worked at the following institutions and company, including, University of Tokyo, RIKEN, and Osaka university, and the university-launched venture company of next-generation single-molecule sequencer (Quantum biosystems). From 2016, he is an Associate Professor, the ISIR, Osaka University, Japan. His research areas include analytical chemistry, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, nanobio-device, surface science, molecular biology. His main research interest is to develop a single-molecule electrical detection system by using solid-state nano-devices. Based on the system, he has reported a single-molecular electrical sequencing method for biopolymers such as DNA, RNA, peptide and so on. These studies are published in the peer-reviewed journal including Nature Nanotechnology, Scientific Reports, PNAS, and so on.

Elena Del Favero is an associated professor of Applied Physics at University of Milan, where she teach Medical Physics at the Medical School and at other courses of the Faculty of Medicine. Her research activities focus on the physico-chemical properties of auto aggregating complex systems of biological macromolecules: structural, dynamic, thermotropic, lyotropic and interaction properties. She collaborate with national and international partners with expertise in different bio-related disciplines. Wei Deng is an Associate Professor of Nanomedicine at School of Biomedical Engineering in University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Her research contribution was to develop bespoke liposome nanocarrier delivery systems for cancer therapy. Deng has a broad background in nanomedicine, with specific training and expertise in liposome and polymer nanocarrier engineering, tumor biology and interaction between nanocarriers with cells and animal body. She has 44 publications that are on an upward trajectory for citations, including three 1st author paper each over 100 citations and 5 papers each over 50 citations. Most other papers were published in the 1st quartile journals for their category, including Nature Communications, ACS Central Science, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Advanced Materials, Molecular Therapy - Nucleic Acids and Acta Biomaterialia. Beyond the lab activities, Deng also co-founded a start-up company in collaboration with Canadian investors in 2020 and her two patents on liposome delivery technology were exclusively licensed to this company in 2021.

Jingwei Xie received his B.S. and M.S. from Nanjing University of Technology, China, and his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (2007). He worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Xia group at Washington University in St. Louis. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Surgery‐Transplant and Holland Regenerative Medicine Program at University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is also an adjunct Faculty in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has won a number of awards including UNMC New Investigator Award 2015, Most Promising Invention Award 2017, Licensed Technology Award 2017 and 2018, Dr. Harold & Beverly Maurer Scientific Achievement Award, The Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures 2019,WashU patent award 2019 and 2020, and UNMC Distinguished Scientist Award 2020. His research interests include biomaterials, drug delivery, nanomedicine, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, wound infection and healing, and hemostasis.

Dr. Jinjun Shi is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and a co-founding member of the Center for Nanomedicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His laboratory has a broad interest in nanotechnology, biomaterials, RNA therapy, immunotherapy, and antioxidative therapy for transformative biomedical applications. Notably, the immunonanotherapeutic technology developed by him and colleagues has led to the clinical trials of synthetic nanoparticle vaccines by Selecta Biosciences. His laboratory is currently focusing on i) RNAi delivery for gene silencing; ii) mRNA delivery for protein replacement and vaccine development; iii) nanotechnology-mediated immunotherapy; and iv) development of stimuli-responsive biomaterials. He has authored over 85 peer-reviewed papers and is an inventor of over 50 issued and pending patents worldwide. He has received many awards, such as the NIH Pathway to Independence Award from National Cancer Institute, the Movember-PCF Challenge Award and PCF Young Investigator Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the Lung Cancer Discovery Award from the American Lung Association, and the Innovation Discovery Award from Mass General Brigham. He is also an elected Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) for outstanding contributions to the field of biomacromolecular delivery and to development and clinical translation of immunonanotherapeutics and RNA nanomedicines.

Dr. Shah is the Vice Chair of Research at BWH Neurosurgery and an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. He is also the Director of the Center for Stem Cell Therapeutics and Imaging at BWH and the joint Center of Excellence in Biomedicine with KACST and BWH. He is also a Principal Faculty at Harvard Stem Cell Institute in Boston. Dr. Shah and his team have pioneered major developments in translational cell therapy field, successfully developing experimental models to understand basic cancer biology and therapeutic cells for cancer. Dr. Shah holds current positions on numerous councils, advisory and editorial boards in the fields of Cellular therapy and Oncology. In an effort to translate the exciting therapies develped in his laboratory into clinics, he has founded two biotech companies whose main objective is the clinical translation of Cellular Therapies in cancer patients.

Endocrinologist and nutritionist, he had work experience in the clinical hospital field and in the endocrinological-diabetic field, before directing the Regional Reference Center for Physiopathology of Nutrition in the Abruzzo Region from 1998 until 2012. He was a member of the Board of the scientific societies UICO (Italian Union against Obesity), SIO (Italian Society of Obesity), SINU (Italian Society of Human Nutrition), was president of SINVE (Italian Society of Vegetarian Nutrition), with intense and uninterrupted congress activity. D'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara and has active scientific publications and books in the nutritional field. He actively participated in the writing committee at the Consensus Conference of the Higher Institute of Health on Eating Disorders in 2012. He participated in the European project "Repeat" in collaboration with the University of Teramo (2018-2019). He is currently the director of NUBEN srI, through which he coordinates consultancy and teaching interventions in the nutritional field at the Sani Medical Center in Castellalto (TE). Sunil Nath, FNAE, FDNA, is a Professor at the Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. He was educated at IIT Kanpur, Princeton University, National Research Institute of Biotechnology Germany, and at MIT. He is best known for the pioneering formulation, by innovative systems biology and engineering approaches of Nath’s torsional mechanism of energy transduction and ATP synthesis and Nath’s two-ion theory of energy coupling and ATP synthesis and Nath’s rotation-uncoiling-tilt energy storage mechanism of muscle contraction, named so by other authors/researchers. He has published 70 peer-reviewed journal papers, and over 60 conference papers. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) since 2017. He was elected Fellow of the Danish Academy of Natural Sciences (DNA) in 2021, and is included in the Stanford list of top 2% of world’s scientists, 2020 (within the top 0.7%).

Mohammadbagher Rezaee obtained his Ph.D. in Phyto-chemistry from India (NS. Institute). He has experience of more than 28 years in teaching, research, and the herbal industry. He is currently a Professor of Phyto-chemistry, Research Associate, and Co-Investigator of the university and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on herbs. He also worked full time as a scientist in the M.P. Department of Research Institute Forests and Rangelands (RIFR)-Tehran-IRAN. He was awarded 3 national awards, as an example, the "Razi research festival on medicinal sciences" award for excellent work in the “Medicinal plants as natural products and their biological uses” field. He has been serving as an Editorial Board Member of some national and international journals including herbs and their essential oils. He has published 8 books in the Persian language and two chapters in English abroad, nearly 200 papers in reputed journals, and supervised 25 Ph.D. and more than 60 in MSc., Now he is on duty at the Union Medicinal Plants of Iran (Chairman, UMPI) and Iranian Medicinal Plants Society (Board member, IMPS).

Dr Mahmoud Al Ahmad is a senior of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He received his both M.Sc. and the Dr. Ing. Degrees in microwave engineering from Technische Universitaet Mnuechen, Munich, Germany, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. Currently he is an Associate Professor at the electrical department at the UAEU and his research interest is involved in the design and fabrication of smart microelectronics system for biomedical and space application. He is also a principle (Lead) Author of around 138 published articles in journals and international conferences and has over 60 presentations at international conferences. Several were invited. Dr. Al Ahmad has 50 high quality research papers in leading international journals. He has secured 10,534,000 AED funded projects. He has supervised 5 MSc and 4 PhD graduated students. All their external examiners are Fellows of the IEEE. Dr Al Ahmad has 20-registered patent (granted). He received many research awards he is an active member in different editorial boards of internationally recognized, peer-reviewed professional journals. He won the Technology Innovation Pioneer in Healthcare technology (TIP) award 2018 – Piezologist and TIP award 2018 – Bio Electro Quantifier. Recently he has received the Chancellor Medal award for innovation 2020.

Pedram Mohseni received the B.S. degree from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1996, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, in 1999 and 2005, respectively, all in electrical engineering. In 2005, he joined Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA, where he is currently the Goodrich Professor of Engineering Innovation and the inaugural Chair of the Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering (ECSE) Department. He also holds a secondary appointment in the Biomedical Engineering Department. He has authored two book chapters and over 130 refereed technical and scientific articles. He holds 8 issued and pending patents. His research interests include analog/mixed-signal/RF integrated circuits and microsystems for neural engineering, wireless sensing/actuating systems for brain-machine interfaces, interface circuits for micro-/nano-scale sensors/actuators, and point-of-care diagnostic platforms for personalized health. Dr. Mohseni was a member of the Technical Program Committee (TPC) of the IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium from 2012 to 2015, IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference from 2012 to 2019, and IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference from 2017 to 2021. He has been a member of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits, Circuits and Systems, and Engineering in Medicine and Biology Societies. He was a member of the Administrative Committee of the IEEE Sensors Council from 2014 to 2017. He was a recipient of several awards, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Case School of Engineering Research Award, the First-Place Prize of the Medical Device Entrepreneur’s Forum at the 58th Annual Conference of the American Society of Artificial Internal Organs, and the ECSE Mihajlo “Mike” Mesarovic Award for Extraordinary Impact. He was the TPC Co-Chair of the IEEE BioCAS Conference in 2017 and the General Co-Chair of the conference in 2018. He has been an associate editor and a guest editor of several IEEE journals since 2008.

Dr. Witmans is a Board Certified Sleep Specialist who also subspecializes in pediatric pulmonology. Originally from Slave Lake, Alberta, Dr. Witmans completed her medical training at the University of Saskatchewan, her residency in Pediatrics and her Fellowship in Pediatric Respirology at the University of Calgary, Alberta Children's Hospital. She subsequently completed additional fellowship training in Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, California. After returning to Alberta, she developed the pediatric sleep program at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. Currently, she is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta and has a busy private practice office in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Her expertise in sleep medicine have enabled her to play an integral part in the development of the current international guidelines on the use of polysomnography in pediatric respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders. She has several publications and collaborations to her name, and is a sought-after journal and grant reviewer. She is involved with numerous committees to help address sleep problems in children nationally and internationally. Dr. Witmans is also involved in various research projects involving pediatric sleep medicine.

Ebrahim Ghafar-Zadeh received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the KNT University of Technology (Tehran, Iran), University of Tehran (Tehran, Iran), respectively. He then continued his studies in Polytechnique of Montreal (Montreal, Canada) where he received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2008. His graduate studies focused on CMOS based sensors for Lab-on-Chip applications. In recognition of his research achievements, he received several fellowship awards including a Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Then he continued his PDF research studies in Electrical Engineering at the McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and in Bioengineering, at the University of California, Berkeley. As Assistant Professor, in 2013, Ebrahim joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) in the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University where currently he is Associate Professor, Member of Graduate Programs of Departments of EECS and Biology, and Director of Biologically Inspired Sensors and Actuators (BioSA) research laboratory. His research is aimed at exploring novel integrated sensors and actuators for life science applications. Since 2013, Professor Ghafar-Zadeh has published more than 100 journal and conference articles and trained more than 40 highly qualified personal (HQP) in the fields of Electrical Engineering and Biology. He is Senior Member of the IEEE and a licensed Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.

Chiara Di Tucci, MD completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at “Sapienza” University of Rome, Italy. She obtained PhD in Gynecology Oncology in 2019 at Sapienza” University of Rome. She is a practicing gynecology as medical executive in Local Health Unit of Rome. Her key areas of interest are: endometriosis, infertility and oncological gynecology. She has published more than 35 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute.

Dr. Bright Thilagar MD, FACP, SFHM is a Clinical Associate Consultant and an Assistant Professor at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He completed his Masters in Medical Management at Carnegie Mellon University and is a Certified Physician Leader at the American College of Physicians. He is interested in medical device research, usage trends by patients and their practical use in Clinical Medicine for providers. He is a start-up advisor for the American College of Physicians advising early-stage companies on their clinical use possibilities.

Doctor Judith Adrianne Deutsch received her Bachelor Degree of Science from the University of Illinois and Master’s Degree from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. She completed her specialization in anesthesiology, reanimatology and intensive care at University Hospital Centre Zagreb. She has over 10 years of experience working as a specialist in anesthesiology, reanimatology and intensive care. She actively participates in numerous international courses and congresses in Croatia and abroad. From 2015 until 2018 she gained work experience as a 'Consultant and Senior specialist' in England and Scotland. She is the author of a number of professional publications and a frequent lecturer at various symposiums. She is an active instructor and member of APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support) ALSG Manchester Group, MIMMS (Major Incident and Medical Management and Support) and International Association for Ambulatory Surgery (IAAS). She is a certified instructor for emergency medicine skills and has received an award for the best anesthesiologist from the University Hospital Centre Zagreb.

Joshua Kays received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in 2014, where he researched gene and drug delivery systems at the Center for Nanomedicine under Prof. Justin Hanes. He was hired at Graybug Vision (third research employee in company history) and worked there for two years treating ocular diseases. During this time, he produced much of the data needed for the lead product IND, lead scale up and manufacturing transfer efforts, and developed new technologies resulting in 3 patents. He then pursued a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University in the lab of Allison Dennis, studying the barriers to clinical translation of semiconductor nanocrystals (aka Quantum Dots) for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He was a NSF Graduate Research Fellow, has won multiple teaching awards at Hopkins and Boston University, and has published in materials science, nanotechnology, gene delivery, and drug delivery. He received his Ph.D. in December 2021 and will be functioning as a lecturer and postdoc at Boston University in Spring 2022.

Dr Sina Sharifi is currently an NIH Pathway to Independence (K99/R00) Fellow at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He received his PhD in Chemistry from UConn (CT, USA) in 2016 on the self-assembly of surfactants around single-walled carbon nanotubes. He also holds a BSc degree in Chemistry from Tabriz University (Iran), an MSc degree in Organic Chemistry from Amir kabir University (Iran). Dr. Sharifi joined HMS in 2016 and is currently working on engineering suturable synthetic scaffolds for biomedical applications, including artificial cornea. His goal is to bridge chemistry, materials sciences, biomaterials, and nanotechnology to engineer novel structures and study their interaction with biological entities and their functionalities. He has authored two books, one book chapter, and over 40 scientific articles, and holds 7 issued and pending patents. He has received multiple awards and grants in Iran and USA, including the Barbara L. Crow Investigator Concept Grant (2019), EBAA Richard Lindstrom Research Grant (2019), and more prominently, NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award (2020).

Jui-Ling Yu has completed her PhD from the Department of Mathematics, Michigan State University, USA. She is a full professor in the Department of Data Sciences and Big Data Analytics, Providence University, Taiwan. She has published more than 20 papers in reputed journals and conferences and has been serving as a guest editorial board member of repute. Her research interests are mathematical biology and numerical methods. Her current project includes the modeling of immunotherapy, oncolytic virus therapy, and to study their dynamics.

Che-Wei Lin is an assistant professor of Department of Biomedical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. His research interest includes the AI-based biomedical signal analysis, virtual reality rehabilitation system, the surgical assistive device development, artificial intelligence wearable technology.

Mr. Ming Yang is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Ophthalmology, The University of Hong Kong. He is aiming to decipher the mechanisms of complicated retinal diseases to find new therapeutic targets. Mr. Yang has 20 publications with more than 450 citations and 11 in the H index. He completed invited review assignments for Theranostics, Stem Cell Research & Therapy; Cell Transplantation, Journal of International Medical Research, and World Journal of Surgical Oncology. He is also the winner of the National Scholarship of China, National Endeavours Scholarship, Postgraduate Scholarship, YS and Christabel Lung Postgraduate Scholarship, and Mary Sun Medical Scholarship.

Nuray Kil after graduating from Veterinary Medicine at Uludag University Bursa/ Turkey in 2017 moved to Austria to do a doctorate. Currently, she is doing her doctorate at the Clinical Department for Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Intensive Care Medicine, Clinic for Horses, University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna which she specialize in automated video tracking, image processing, equine behavior, machine learning, and pain assessment. So far she have published the Development and Validation of an Automated Video Tracking Model for Stabled Horses.

Jong-Chen Chen received the M.S. degree (1986) in computer science and electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and the Ph.D. degree(1993) in computer science from the Wayne State University. Since 2000, he has been a Full Professor of the Department of Information Management, the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. He developed a neuromolecular model (1993) that abstracts biological structure–function relationships into the system’s structure, in particular into its intraneuronal dynamics. With this feature, the system possesses structure richness in generating a broad range of dynamics that allows it to learn how to complete the assigned tasks in a self-organizing manner. The model has been successfully applied in different application fields, such as robotic maze navigation, image recognition, data differentiation, chopstick robot walk, and snake-like robot movement. He has published a number of papers in the fields of evolutionary computation, neural network, biological information processing, and artificial intelligence. His research interests include evolvable hardware, brain-like computer simulation, ecosystem simulation, bio-computing, artificial life, molecular electronics, evolutionary computation, genetic programming, and pattern recognition.

Jose A. Miranda Calero received the MSc in Electronic Systems and Applications Engineering, from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, in 2015 with honors. He is defending his Ph.D. degree in February 2022 which has been done under the advice of Prof. Dr. Celia López-Ongil and Dr. Marta Portela García, also in the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He is currently a research assistant at the Microelectronic Design and Applications (DMA) research group, in the same university. From 2012 to 2015, he has worked as an Embedded Software Engineer in different countries within Europe for public and private sectors. His research field comprises wireless sensor networks, wearable design, development and integration for safety applications, affective computing implementation into edge computing devices, and hardware acceleration. Regarding the development of wearable technology for safety applications, his main contribution relates to the design of BINDI within the EMPATIA-CM project, which is a new autonomous, smart, inconspicuous, connected, edge-computing-based, and wearable solution able to detect and alert when a user is under a Gender-based Violence situation employing emotion recognition using physiological and physical signals. BINDI is being developed within the UC3M4 Safety Team. Moreover, he has also participated in other projects related to space applications, such as EXOMARS20 for European Space Agency and IKI-Roscosmos.

Dr. Mirza Muhammad Faran Ashraf Baig is a registered Pharmacist and currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Professor Chengfei Zhang. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and MPhil (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) degrees from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, Pakistan, and a Ph.D. degree from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University (NJU), China under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Xing-Hua Xia. His research work is about Biomedical Engineering, Mechano-Pharmacology, Polymers, Material Chemistry, DNA Nanotechnology, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience, Nano-Therapeutics, Bio-sensing, Bio-imaging, Diagnostics, Biotechnology, Biophysics, and Biochemistry. His current research focus is designing DNA based novel functional & bio-active nanomaterials to apply in Restorative Dentistry, Oral Microbiology& Oncology, Regenerative Therapeutics, Stem Cells Research, Drug Delivery, and Molecular Pharmaceutics. He published in the top journals e.g., Nano Letters (ACS, USA), indexed in Harvard University Library Press.

Oscar Barquero Pérez did his Ph.D. ("Doctor europeus", "cum laude") from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2014), Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Universidade do Porto, Portugal (2008), and a Technical Engineering degree in Telecommunication from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2005). His main research interests are cardiac signal processing and modeling with emphasis on applications to atrial fibrillation and autonomic modeling, machine learning, and data science applied to solve clinical problems (Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular events). He also apply machine learning techniques to neuromarketing and biology problems. He have published 39 articles in international journals, and have been a co-author in more than 60 contributions to conferences and a chapter in a book. Due to the multidisciplinary character in his area of research, most of the articles and contributions to conferences are as a result of continuous collaboration with different research groups: Unit Group of Arrhythmias at the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca in Murcia by Dr. Arcadi García Alberola, Biomedical Engineering Group of Professor Leif Sörnmo from the University of Lund (Sweden) Biomedical Engineering Group of Professor Pablo Laguna from the University of Zaragoza, Group of Dr. José Naranjo Orellana of Sports Physiology at Universidad Pablo of Olavide of Seville. He collaborate developing models and learning tools statistical for inference problems in biological data, specifically in ungulates superiors. Additionally, he have collaborated in 18 research projects (6 national calls, 9 research contracts, 1 PI). He is a regular reviewer of the IEEE Transactions journal on Biomedical Engineering, Frontiers in Physiology, Sensors, Entropy, Medical Informatics and Decision Making.

Mario Fernando Jojoa Acosta has completed his PhD from University of North, Colombia, and another doctoral studies from University of Deusto, Spain. He is researcher of eVIDA lab, a first level researching lab in Basque Country. He has published various papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute. He is a recognized researcher in Complex valued deep learning for computer vision and NLP techniques applied in biomedicine.

Mercedes studied a BSc and MSc in Telecommunications Engineering and developed her master thesis in the German Aerospace Center in Germany. She also completed a BSc in Economics and she is completing now her PhD in Biomedical Engineering in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain). She is working as Senior Manager in IBM and she has led different technological projects in many different countries such as Japan, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Peru, Switzerland or France. She has also a strong background working with Big Data and Data Analytics. She has attended different courses related to Data Science, Machine Learning, Blockchain and Innovation in prestigious international schools (IE Business School (Spain), MIT (Boston, USA), Berkeley (San Francisco, USA))

Dae-Ki Kang is a professor at Dongseo University in South Korea. He was a senior member of engineering staff at the attached Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute in South Korea. He earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Iowa State University in 2006. His research interests include deep learning, machine learning, and intrusion detection. Prior to joining Iowa State, he worked at two Bay-area startup companies and at the Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute in South Korea. He received a science master degree in computer science at Sogang University in 1994 and a bachelor of engineering (BE) degree in computer science and engineering at Hanyang University in 1992. He has published more than 30 papers in SCIE journals and has been serving as guest editors of SCIE journals.

Dr. Sun Tao obtained his BSc in Microbiology from Shan Dong University, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), PR China. Then he held research appointments at Institute of Transfusion Medicine (Beijing, PR China); Institute of Material Research and Engineering (IMRE), Singapore; Sheffield University and Glasgow University working on fibrin sealant, liver/skin/nerve tissue engineering and computational modelling of cell-cell, cell-scaffold interactions. Due to his multidisciplinary research experience, Dr. Sun was appointed as a Lecturer in Computational Biology (2011-13) at Xi’an Jiao-tong Liverpool University (XJTLU), and then a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering (2013-2015) at Bolton University UK. In 2015, he joined Loughborough University as a Senior Lecturer in Industrial Biotechnology.

Dr. Saurabh Shukla joined the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) as a postdoctoral researcher in the Unit of Semantic Web, Data Science Institute (DSI), Insight SFI Centre of Data Analytics in October 2020. He received PhD from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia in the research area of healthcare Internet-of-Things (IoT) in August 2020. He was awarded M.Tech from the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad, India in 2010 in the research area of an intelligent system. He had completed B.Tech from Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar-Pradesh (U.P), Lucknow, India in 2008. His research interests are Healthcare Internet-of-Things (IoT), Fog Computing (FC), cloud computing, machine learning, and the blockchain mechanism. He is currently working on Cooperative Energy Trading System (CENTS) project for an efficient Peer-2-Peer (P2P) energy trading system in a Smart Grid (SG) network. He has academic experience of more than 7 years and published around 20 papers in various international journals and conferences.

Rossana Madrid is EE and Ph.D. in Bioengineering. She is currently Full Professor of Biomedical Transducers and Biosensors and Microsystems of the Biomedical Engineering Program, and also at the Doctoral degree, at the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Technology at the University of Tucumán, Argentina. She is Principal Researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research of Argentina (CONICET). She has published R&D papers in national and international journals, two chapters in books and has developed four patents. She leads research grants and international cooperation grants with two German Universities. Her main research fields include sensors and biosensors, microfluidic systems and paper-based POC devices for biomedical and environmental applications.

Daniela Cardone obtained a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the La Sapienza University of Rome in 2009. In 2013, she obtained the title of Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Neuroimaging at the University "G. d’Annunzio "of Chieti-Pescara. Since March 2020, she has the role of Research Fellow for the PON ADAS + project "Development of advanced technologies and systems for car safety through ADAS platforms" at the Department of Neuroscience, Imaging and Clinical Sciences of the University of "G. d’Annunzio "of ChietiPescara. Her research work mainly concerns the development of processing methods and analysis of images and physiological signals, of various nature. Her main activity concerns, in particular, thermal infrared (IR) imaging. In this context, she developed real-time tracking algorithms for specific areas of interest and IR image morphing methods on anatomical templates. She also dealt with the realization of image fusion algorithms between visible and thermal images. More recently, her research has focused on affective computing and human-machine interaction, with particular reference to the automotive research field.

Doctor Giovanni Fiorito has a background in Mathematics and a PhD in Complex Systems for Life Sciences. He is currently Associated Researcher at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sassari, Italy. He is also Visiting Researcher at the School of Public Health, Imperial College, London, UK and Trinity College, Dublin, UK. His research involves the analyses of multi-omic data in molecular epidemiology, clinical, and randomized trial studies. His recent research focused on the role of epigenetic (specifically DNA methylation) modifications associated with biological ageing (epigenetic clocks, epigenetic drift, and DNA methylation surrogates of various exposures) for predicting longevity, healthy ageing, and the risk of ageing-related diseases (cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and mental disorders), with the aim of identifying novel biomarkers for ageing-related diseases early detection and screening.

Luigi Donato, PhD in “Applied Biology and Experimental Medicine”, frequents the Labs of Molecular Genetics of University of Messina, Italy. He is a researcher of the IEMEST institute in Palermo, Italy, too. He published more than 50 papers in reputed journals and participated in more than 30 national and international congresses, also being in the Organizing Committee in several of them. He was a member of ARVO and he is a member of AIBG. He joined the Editorial Board of several journals, such as “Cell Cycle”, “BMC Bioinformatics”, also acting as Guest Editor for “Antioxidants” and “Frontiers in Genetics”. His main research fields are retinal dystrophies and omics approaches.

Paola Paci was trained as a theoretical physicist and she worked over 18 years on the field of computer modeling. She holds a degree in Physics from the University of Rome “Sapienza” and a Ph.D in Physics from the University of Pavia “A. Volta”. She holds a master in bioinformatics, named “Master in Bioinformatica: Applicazionibiomediche e farmaceutiche”, cum laude at the University of Rome “Sapienza”, defending a thesis on a software development for functional analysis of gene expression. Since 2011 to 29 February 2020 she was a researcher of Institute for Systems Analysis and Computer Science “A. Ruberti” (IASI) of National Research Council (CNR) in Rome. Since 2March 2020 she is Associate Professor at Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering "A. Ruberti", Sapienza University of Rome.

Dr Shahnaz Mansouri is a lecture at School of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Monash University with the study background in Chemical and Process Engineering (PhD), Food Engineering & Technology (Bachelor & Master degrees) and Teaching (Master degree). She is Course Coordinator for Master of Food Science and Agribusiness. Her research is focused on the future food & pharmaceutical engineering and education. Shahnaz has over 15 years of research experience in food manufacturing and spray drying in Australia and overseas. She has worked in research and development, and quality control for various food manufacturing companies locally in Australia and abroad to provide quality improvement.

Nasrul Anuar graduated with a B.Eng. Hons. in Mechatronics Engineering, followed by MSc. and Ph.D. in Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering and Upper Limb Prosthetics from University of Malaya, Malaysia. Nas’s research interests are quite wide-ranging under the general umbrella of prosthetics and orthotics engineering. He had published more than 30 articles of ISI and proceeding and currently supervising 7 PhD students and 7 Master students in Research. Grant holder for Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), University Community to Community (UCTC), Malaysia Community University Networking (MCUN-MTUN-MRUN), and Integrated Inter-disciplinary Research Grant (IIRG) . Members of International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO Malaysia) and Malaysian Society of Biomechanics (MSMBE). He is currently the Head of Department for Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya and Coordinator for Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering.

Ehsan Zeimaran is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Malaya. Before joining University of Malaya in 2019, he was a research fellow in the School of Engineering at Monash University (Malaysia).He received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering, specialized in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, from the university of Malaya in 2016. He has authored >20 peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter. His key research interest lies in the development of biodegradable polymers, polymeric scaffolds and bioactive glasses for applications in bone repair, hemostasis and wound healing.

Hyunsung Kim has completed his PhD from Kyungpook National University, Korea and researcher work from Ditto Tech., Korea. He is a full professor of School of Computer Science, Kyungil University, Korea and a visiting professor of Mathematical Sciences Department, University of Malawi, Malawi. He has published more than 300 papers in reputed journals and conferences and has been serving as an editorial board member of some repute journals.

Dr. Md. Wali Ullah is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Comilla University, Bangladesh. Dr. Ullah received his Bachelor of Science with four years integrated honors (B.Sc. honors) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees with distinction from the Department of Chemistry, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He obtained the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan, in 2019, under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Naoki Haraguchi. In his Ph.D. project, he pioneered the synthesis of sulfonated core-corona polymer microspheres for the immobilization of cinchonidinium salt and MacMillan catalyst. He works in the fields of polymer chemistry, sustainable organic chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology. He has academic experience of more than nine (09) years and published a lot of papers in various international journals. He is carrying out his research work with collaborators in the aligned fields. His research interests focused on the design and synthesis of polymer microsphere-supported heterogeneous chiral organo catalysts and their applications to asymmetric organic reactions for the development of sustainable chemistry.

Banza Lubaba Nkulu Célestin was born on 13rd January 1955 in Mwanza-Mutombo (territory of Malemba-Nkulu) in the former Katanga Province of the D.R. Congo. He obtained his Master’s degree and Doctoral Diploma (PhD) (2005) in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His master’s and doctorate’s researches were focused on the toxicology of metals in the mining areas of the Katanga Province. He carried out post-doctoral training courses in toxicology and environment in the Laboratory of Toxicology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Leuven (Prof. Benoit Nemery and Prof. Erik Smolders) in Belgium (7th August to 6th October 2006; 11th August to 18th October 2009; 11th November to 18th December 2010; 2nd December 2011 to 27th February 2012) and in the Laboratory of Industrial Toxicology and Occupational medicine at the Catholic University of Louvain in Brussels (Prof. Vincent Haufroid) in Belgium (7th August to 6th October 2006). In July 4th – 6th 2021, he attended a geochemical modeling course: applications of geochemical modeling and reactive transport with emphasis on the impact of mining industry in Windhoek at the University of Namibia(Prof. OndraSracek of University of Olomouc; Czech Republic). He attended training in Youth smoking research, in November 2007 and October 2008, in Brazzaville (Republic of the Congo) and in Global Youth Tobacco Surveillance, in November 2009, in Ouagadougou (Bukina Faso); trainings organized by World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – Atlanta. In April 7th-9th 2017, Banza Lubaba Nkulu Célestin attended the Workshop on “Development Minerals Curricula Sprint” organized by the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) in Maputo-Mozambique. In May 15th-19th 2017, he attended the Workshop on “Mine and Sustainable Development in Francophone Africa” at the Conference Center of the Mohamed VI Polytechnic University in Benguérir (Morocco) before attending the Workshop on Occupational Health and Safety in Formal and Informal Mining from 22nd to 25th of August 2017 in Odense (Denmark). Banza Lubaba Nkulu Célestin is a Full Professor and Director of the Toxicology and Environment Unit (Scientific Research Unit) at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lubumbashi. He is also a Provincial Coordinator of the National Program against drug abuse and toxic substances for the former Katanga Province (Ministry of Public Health).He is author and co-author of numerous scientific publications and has participated at several international conferences. His scientific collaboration, focused on environmental toxicology researches, with the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Prof. Benoit Nemery and Prof. Erik Smolders, since 2006), the Catholic University of Louvain (Prof. Vincent Haufroid), the Hasselt University (Prof. Tim S. Nawrot), the University of Mons (Prof. Laurence Ris), the Geology Department of the Royal Museum of Central Africa in Tervuren (Doctor Thierry De Putter) of Belgium, and the Copperbelt University of Zambia (Ambayeba Muimba-Kankolongo, Jacob Mwitwa, Misery MuleleNabuyanda) remains fruitful.

Mohamed Mahmoud El-Shazly is the Head of Pharmaceutical Biology Department, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, the German University in Cairo, Cairo, Egypt. He was graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, with a general grade excellent with honor in 2000. Following graduation, he pursued his postgraduate studies as a teaching and research assistant at the Department of Pharmacognosy at the same institute. After obtaining his postgraduate diploma, he traveled to Germany (Jacobs University Bremen, Bremen, Germany) to pursue his master's and Ph.D. studies. In 2006, he received his master’s degree in nanomolecular science, and he was offered a position at the same institute to complete his Ph.D. focusing on the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and natural products. In 2009, he received his Ph.D. and went back to Egypt to join his home institute as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University. In 2011, he received an offer to work at the Graduate Institute of Natural Products, Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He spent there 2.5 years working as a postdoctoral fellow researching in different fields including natural product isolation, structural elucidation, and determination of their biological activity. This postdoctoral experience assisted him to polish his knowledge and experience through guiding master and Ph.D. students in their research. In 2015, he was promoted to associate professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University. In 2017, he joined the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, the German University in Cairo. In March 2021, he was promoted to a full professor in pharmacognosy and natural products chemistry.

Dr. Tamer Ragab holds his Master degree from Vienna University, Austria in 2009. Dr Eka Sunarwidhi Prasedya is from The University of Mataram Lombok in Indonesia. He is currently the head of Bioscience and Biotechnology Research Centre in University of Mataram. He obtained his Bachelor degree from Biology Faculty University of Gadjah Mada and Masters from Malaya University. After finishing his Ph.D. in Fukushima Medical University in 2017. He received his first grant from Indonesia Toray Science Foundation (ITSF) in 2018. Dr. Eka is currently investigating the bioprospecting of seaweeds for promoting human health. Supported by the grant achieved in 2019 from Ristek-DIKTI Indonesia and the current Prioritas Riset Nasional (PRN) grant in 2021 from Kemendikbud-Ristek Indonesia.

He is a practicing physician in the field of healthcare in the state of Kerala in India for the last 32 years and very much interested in basic research. His interest is spread across the fever, inflammation and back pain. He is a writer. He already printed and published nine books on these subjects. He wrote hundreds of articles in various magazines. Dr. Rahul Sasidharan Pillai, currently working as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Mahatma Gandhi College, University of Kerala, India, has earned his Masters in Chemistry from the University of Kerala in 2009. After his Masters he worked as a project fellow in NIIST-CSIR INDIA, Kerala for two years. While enduring his passion in the field of Chemistry, he did the FLAIR-Govt. of Kerala Internship for Nano Fabrication at IISc, Bangalore, India, January 2017, prior to which he completed the IASc-INSA-NASI, Govt of India - Summer Research Fellowship in 2016. He did his PhD in Computer Science at University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia. Khalid joined University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on February 2011 as a Post-Doctorate Fellow. He joined the top university of Malaysia which is University of Malaya (UM) on February 2012 as a lecturer at Software Engineering Department of Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology. He was an Assistant Professor at College of Information Technology at Ahlia University in the Kingdom of Bahrain till 2016. Currently, he is an associate professor at College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Anbar University, Iraq.
