I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1930. My father, who had studied in Vienna, Austria, was a physician and head of the Jewish hospital in Sofia. I went to the American Grade School in Sofia for 4 years until it was closed by the pro-German government. From 1942, for over 2 years –during the second world war - my family lived in small villages in the Balkans. My parents believed that the family was safer there. Nevertheless my father was taken to a concentration camp for part of this time. We immigrated to Israel in 1949. I studied biochemistry at the Hebrew University (M.Sc.) and the Weizmann Institute (Ph.D.). I spent a year in New York, at the Rockefeller Institute and returned to the Weizmann Institute in 1960. I worked on the chemistry of various natural products. I initiated there my work on hashish, which I received from the Police. In 1966 I moved to the Hebrew University, originally as senior lecturer and later as full professor in 1972. From 1979 to 1982 I was Rector (Academic Head) of the Hebrew University. I retired in 2000 but continued my research. I still have a lab with 3-4 post-doctoral researchers. My work has been mostly on the chemistry of natural products, the best known being the cannabinoids. In collaboration with numerous colleagues in Israel and abroad I have also published in pharmacology and on clinical trials. I have published about 460 scientific papers and have received numerous national and international prizes, including the Israel Prize – the most prestigious Israeli Prize. I have honorary doctorates from 5 Universities (from Canada, US, Spain and Israel). I am a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and was head of its Science section during 2007-2013. I married Dalia (born Borovitch) in 1955 and we have 3 children, Roy, a professor of mathematics at the Technion in Haifa, Hadas, an M.D. ophtalmologist and Dafna, an M.D. pediatric neurologist. We have 7 grandchildren.

Dr. Ajay K. Dalai obtained his B.Sc. Tech. in Petro-Chemical Engineering from LIT, Nagpur, and M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. Then he served as Petroleum Production Engineer at ONGC, Ahmedabad for about two years and then joined the University of Saskatchewan for his Ph.D. After obtaining his experiences as a PDF at Texas A&M University at College Station in Texas and as a Research Associate at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, he joined the University of Saskatchewan as an Assistant Professor in 1996, and then he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998 and to Full Professor in 2002. He was promoted to Distinguished Professor at the University of Saskatchewan in 2020. Professor Dalai worked as Tier 2 Canada Research Chair at the University of Saskatchewan from 2001 to 2009 and then was promoted to Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in 2009 which he currently holds. He has served as Head of Chemical Engineering from 2007 to 2009 at the University of Saskatchewan and as Associate Dean, Research and Partnership from 2009 to 2014 in the College of Engineering. In 2012, Professor Dalai worked as Special Adviser to VP Research Signature Areas of Energy and Mineral Resources. Dr. Dalai’s research focus is the novel catalyst development for gas to liquid technologies, biodiesel production, hydrogen/syngas production, hydroprocessing, value-added products from biomass, and pollution control. He has supervised over 150 M.Sc., Ph.D., and Post-doctoral Fellows and has received over 35 million dollars for his research over the past 25 years. Dr. Dalai has published over 550 research papers mostly in heterogeneous catalysis and catalytic processes in international journals and conference proceedings. He has submitted several patent applications. His ground-breaking research has led to over 31500 citations of his work and H-index of 82. He serves in Editorial Board of several prestigious journals. Professor Dalai has received fellowship from different societies such as Royal Society of Canada, Royal Society of Chemistry in UK, International Association of Advanced Materials, American Institute of Chemical Engineering, Canadian Academy of Engineering, Chemical Institute of Canada, Engineering Institute of Canada, and Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. Professor Dalai is also a Fulbright Fellow from USA, DAAD Fellow from Germany and JSPS Fellow from Japan. Professor Dalai has received several national and international awards. Recently, he has received Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers DRC Life Time Achievement Award, Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering R.S. Jane Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to Chemical Engineering Profession, Royal Society of Canada’s Miraslow Romanoswki Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Science, and University of Saskatchewan’s George Ivany Internationalization Award.

Dr. Simmons is the Director of the Biological Systems and Engineering Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (biosciences.lbl.gov). He also serves as the Chief Science and Technology Officer and Vice-President of the Deconstruction Division at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (www.jbei.org), a DOE Office of Science funded project tasked with the development and realization of next-generation "drop-in" biofuels and bioproducts produced from sustainable, non-food lignocellulosic biomass

Miqin Zhang, Ph.D., is Kyocera Chair Professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington (UW), Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery, and Adjunct Professor in Departments of Radiology, Bioengineering, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, UW School of Medicine, and an affiliated member of Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center. Dr. Zhang received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from University of California at Berkeley and joined the University of Washington as an Assistant Professor in 1999. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005 and to Professor in 2008. Prof. Zhang’s research focuses on several aspects of biomaterials and biodevice development, including: nanomaterials for controlled drug delivery, cancer diagnosis and therapy; biocompatible and biodegradable composite scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; and biosensors for anti-cancer drug screening and toxin detection. Prof. Zhang has published ~200 journal articles in high-impact materials, chemistry, and biomedical journals and holds 16 US patents. Her work is highly cited, with a total citation more than 30,000 and h-Index of 78 (Google Scholar). She is highly cited researcher named by Thomson Reuters. Her research has received wide recognition from the scientific community and featured by national and international media (e.g., the MIT Reviews, the National Geographic News, King 5 News, Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, Nature Nanotechnology, The Economist, UW Today, etc.).

Prof. (Em.) Aharon Gedanken obtained his Ph. D. degree from Tel Aviv University, Israel. After his postdoctoral research at USC in Los Angeles, he got a lecturer position at BIU on Oct. 1975. He spent two sabbatical years at AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1980-8l, and 1987-88 as well as a summer in 1984. He also has done research at NIDDK, NIH in the summers of 1989, 1990 and 1991. In 1994 he switched his research interest from Spectroscopy to Nanotechnology. His special synthetic methods of nanomaterials include: Sonochemistry, Microwave Superheating, Sonoelectrochemistry, and Reactions under Autogenic Pressure at Elevated Temperatures (RAPET). Since 2004 he is mostly focused on the applications of nanomaterials. Gedanken has published 860 per-reviewed manuscripts in international journals and has applied for 38 Patents. His H-Index is 96 according to the WEB of SCIENCE. Gedanken has served as the Department Chairman as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences at Bar-Ilan University. He is on the editorial boards of 6 international journals. He still leads a group of 11 research people. He was a partner in five EC (European Community) FP7 projects one of them, SONO, was coordinated by him. This project was announced by the EC as a “Success Story”. He is a partner in PROTECT a textile project in Horizon 2020. He was the Israeli representative to the NMP (Nano, Materials, and Processes) committee of EC in FP7. He was awarded the prize of the Israel Vacuum Society in 2009 and the Israel Chemical Society for excellence in Research in Feb. 2013. Two startup companies have originated from his Patents. One, SONOVIA is selling successfully antiviral face masks (SONOMASK).

Dick (H.J.C.M.) Sterenborg received a M.Sc. in Applied Physics from the University of Eindhoven, The Netherlands in 1982 and he has been active in Biomedical Optics Research since then. He did his PhD on the relation between Ultraviolet radiation and skin cancer at the university of Utrecht in 1987. From 1988 to 1998 he was a staff member of the Medical Laser Centre of the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam. In 1998 he moved to the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam and (co)founded the Centre for Optical Diagnostics and Therapy and 2008 he was appointed Professor of Photodynamic Therapy at the Erasmus University. Since 2013 fulfils a joint position at the department of Biomedical Engineering and Physics of the University Medical Centre in Amsterdam and the department of Surgical Oncology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. His main focus of research is currently optical spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging for evaluation of resection margins during oncologic surgery.

Leslie Yeo is a Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at RMIT University, Australia. Following his PhD from Imperial College London in 2002, for which he was awarded the Dudley Newitt prize, he undertook a postdoctoral stint at the University of Notre Dame USA, after which he commenced a faculty position at Monash University. He also held the Australian Research Council’s Australian Research Fellowship and Future Fellowship from 2009 to 2017. Dr Yeo was the recipient of the Young Tall Poppy Science Award ‘in recognition of the achievements of outstanding young researchers in the sciences including physical, biomedical, applied sciences, engineering and technology’, and several awards for excellence in research and innovation both at Monash and RMIT. He is co-author of the book Electrokinetically Driven Microfluidics & Nanofluidics, author of over 235 publications and 25 patent applications, Editor-in-Chief of Biomicrofluidics and an editorial board member of Interfacial Phenomena & Heat Transfer and Biosensors.

Professor Nicolas Voelcker. After completing his BSc at the University of Saarland (1993) and his MSc at the RWTH Aachen (1995) in Germany, Nicocompleteda PhD thesis (1999) in polymer surface chemistry at the DWI Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials under Professor Hartwig Höcker. He received postdoctoral fellowships to work in the area of bioorganic chemistry under Professor Reza Ghadiri at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. In 2001, he became a Lecturer at Flinders University in Australia, an Associate Professor in 2006 and a full Professor in 2008. From 2008-2011, he was the Associate Head of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Flinders University. Since 2012, he is a Professor in Chemistry and Materials Science at the Mawson Institute of the University of South Australia.From 2013-2015, he was Deputy Director of the Mawson Institute at the University of South Australia and Program Leader of the Cooperate Research Centre for Cell Therapy Manufacturing. From 2014-2017, he was Node Leader in the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Convergent Bio-Nano Science & Technology. Since February 2017, he is the Scientific Director of the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication, Professor at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University and Science Leader at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). The core research activity in his laboratory is the study of silicon-based nanostructures and their surface chemistry. Following from this more fundamental research, his focus is on the application of silicon-based nanostructured materials in biosensors, biochips, drug delivery and regenerative medicine. He has authored over 430 peer-reviewed journal articles with over 15,000 citations, h-index 58, and has filed over 30 patents. He has received fellowships from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the CSIRO, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, is a recipient of the Tall Poppy Science Award, a finalist for the South Australian Scientist of the Year 2015 and the Australian Innovation Challenge. And he has served on the College of Experts of the Australian Research Council and is a member of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.

Prof. Leszek Adam Dobrzanski, Hon. Prof., Dr HC (multi), DSc, Ph.D., MSc, Eng., born in 1947, is a full professor of Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Nanotechnology, Medical and Dental Engineering, Management and Organisation. He is one of the 55 most frequently cited contemporary Polish scientists of all disciplines. He is the supervisory board chairman, project manager, principal investigator and director of the Science Centre in the Medical and Dental Engineering Centre for Research, Design, and Production ASKLEPIOS in Gliwice, Poland. He is an honorary professor of the ‘Lviv Polytechnic’ National University in Lviv, Ukraine, and a doctor honoris causa of the Universities in Ruse, Bulgaria; in Miskolc, Hungary; and in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine. He is a fellow of the Materials Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and the president of the Metallic Materials Section of this Committee. He is the vice president and a fellow of the Academy of Engineers in Poland. He is a foreign fellow of the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering Sciences and the Slovak Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is the president of the World Academy of Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and president of the International Association of Computational Materials Science and Surface Engineering. He is the editor in chief of the Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering, Archives of Materials Science and Engineering and Open Access Library. He organized ca. 100 international conferences in Poland and was the member of the scientific committees of the next more as 100 conferences around the world. He advised 62 finished Ph.D. degree theses and ca. 1000 MSc and BSc degree theses and is the author of as many as 2500 publications, more than 50 books, 50 chapters and 50 patents. He has received a lot of awards, including Gold Medals of William Johnson, Albert Schweitzer, Ferdinand Martinengo, Tadeusz Sendzimir, Rudolf Clausius and Wieslaw Chladek et al., and the orders and the crosses, including Commander’s Crosses of Rebirth of Poland and ‘Merite de L’Invention’ by the Kingdom of Belgium. He has also won ca. 80 awards on International Innovation Fairs around the world.

Björn Lindman was chair professor in physical chemistry at Lund University, Sweden since 1978, now emeritus. He is currently visiting professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and wasguest professor at MidSweden University, Sundsvall, Sweden. For several yearshe was professorat Coimbra University, Portugal. His research interests are in the field of colloid science, including surfactant and polymer self-assembly, polymer-surfactant systems, polymer adsorption, amphiphilic polymers and biopolymers like DNA and cellulose. He consults and gives training courses for industry on formulations and is also a co-founder of spin-offs in this area. He is a fellow of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences and science academies abroad (Romania and Portugal). Björn Lindman has published over 650 papers in journals and books; these have been cited more than 25000 times, with an h-index of 87 (Web of Science) and 102 (Google Scholar). He has received the Overbeek Gold Medal of the European Colloid and Interface Society, and prestigious awards from US, China, Japan, India, UK, Finland and Sweden. He is a cofounder of the European Colloid and Interface Society and has been the president of this organization as well as the International Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists (IACIS). In 2015 he received the Life-time Achievement Award of IACIS. He is one of the authors of the textbook Surfactants and Polymers in Aqueous Solutions (2 editions and translated into Chinese and Russian) as well as of Surface Chemistry of Surfactants and Polymers (Wiley 2014).

Yong Zhang is a Provost’s Chair Professor in Department of Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), and a senior faculty member of NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering (NGS). His current research interests include nanobiophotonics, nanomedicine, and microfluidic devices. Professor Zhang has made significant achievements in developing new technology based on fluorescent nanomaterials with unique upconversion property. These nanomaterials have demonstrated the potential to fulfill most if not all the qualifications of a perfect fluorescent label or light nanotransducer and are envisaged to be widely applicable to a range of uses that include but not limited to: fluorescence imaging, bioassays, photodynamic therapy, optogenetics and barcoding applications. He has also developed a novel microfluidic device based on deterministic lateral displacement (DLD) for efficient separation of non-spherical bio-particles such as red blood cells and bacteria from blood samples and fluorescent label-free detection of proteins and vesicles, for point-of-care disease diagnostics. Professor Zhang has authored over 200 peer-reviewed research papers in international journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Nature Protocols, PNAS, and Chemical Reviews. He has delivered more than 100 Plenary/keynote/invited talks in prestigious international conferences and has been actively involved in organizing scientific conferences by serving as a conference chair or international scientific/advisory committee member. He is also a Senior Associate Editor and editorial board member of a number of journals. Professor Zhang has won numerous research awards such as IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award, NML Researcher Award, DAAD Scholarship, NUS Engineering Researcher Award and NUS Young Investigator Award. He is interviewed by Thomson Reuters Science Watch for his highly cited and hot research papers and his research achievements have been featured in The Straits Times, Lianhe zaobao, Innovation Magazine, Nature Publishing Group (NPG) Asia Materials and Nanotechweb, etc. Professor Zhang is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and a Highly Cited Researcher amongst the World's Most Influential Scientific Minds named by Clarivate Analytics.

Dr Joachim Loo is Associate Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He holds a joint appointment at the Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) and is a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), USA. He is also an international member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) for Sustainable Waste Management, and a member of the Coordinated Research Project (CRP) under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), United Nations (UN). His research interests include designing delivery systems for agri-food and biomedical applications. He has published more than 200 international journal papers (h-index: 53 – Web of Science), three book chapters and filed more than 15 patents. From his patented technologies, he has spun-off two companies, i.e.LiberaTx and Dietrics. Recently, he was also awarded a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop delivery systems for nutraceuticals. He is currently a co-convenor of the ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnology National Working Group (WG3), under the Singapore Chemical Industry Council.

Dr. Chaoliang Tan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. He received his B.E. (2009) and M.E. (2012) degrees both in Applied Chemistry from Hunan University of Science and Technology (China) and South China Normal University (China), respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 2016. After working as a Research Fellow in the same place for about one year, then he worked as a Postdoc Research Fellow in Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at University of California, Berkeley for two years. His current interest is focusing on engineering of layered nanomaterialsfor various applications especially in biomedicine. He is also interested in design, synthesis and characterization of semiconductors for next-generation wafer-scale electronics and optoelectronics. He has authored or co-authored over 100 SCI papers. More than 30 of them are first/corresponding author papers, including Nat.Nanotechnol.,Nat.Rev.Mater.,Chem. Rev., Chem. Soc. Rev.,Nat. Commun.,J. Am. Chem. Soc.,Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.,Adv. Mater.,Energy & Environ. Sci.,ACS NanoandSmall. The total citation of his published papers is over 14,800 with a H-index of 56. He has been listed as the Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate Analytics) both in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Professor Thomas is the Director of the International and Interuniversity Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and full professor of Polymer Science and Engineering at the School of Chemical Sciences of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. He is an outstanding leader with sustained international acclaims for his work in Polymer Science and Engineering, Polymer Nanocomposites, Elastomers, Polymer Blends, Interpenetrating Polymer Networks, Polymer Membranes, Green Composites and Nanocomposites, Nanomedicine and Green Nanotechnology. Dr. Thomas’s ground breaking inventions in polymer nanocomposites, polymer blends, green bionanotechnological and nano-biomedical sciences, have made transformative differences in the development of new materials for automotive, space, housing and biomedical fields. The H index of Prof. Thomas is 67 and has more than 17,000 citations. Prof. Thomas has delivered over 300 Plenary/Inaugural and Invited lectures in national/international meetings over 30 countries. He has established a state of the art laboratory at Mahatma Gandhi University in the area of Polymer Science and Engineering and Nanoscience and Nanotechnology through external funding form DST, CSIR, UGC, DBT, DRDO, AICTE, ISRO, TWAS, KSCSTE, BRNS, UGC-DAE, Du Pont, USA, General Cables, USA, Surface Treat Czech Republic, Apollo Tyres. Professor Thomas has several international collaborative projects with a large number of countries abroad. He has already supervised 65 PhD theses. The former co-workers of Prof.Thomas occupy leading positions in India and abroad.

Dr. Farid Menaa is an inter- and multi-disciplinary professional with worldwide reputation. He has three international post-doctoral terms in Oncology, Dermatology, and Hematology; MBA Entrepreneurship and MD candidate. During his ongoing career, he has mainly contributed to the identification and functions of new human disease-causing genes and variants, formulated natural products for anti-aging and developed innovative theranostic strategies against cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and infectious diseases. He has more than 10 years’ experiences either in the academic, hospitals or industrial sectors. As Chief Scientific Officer and Vice-President R&D at Fluorotronics, Inc. he actively participated in the development of the disruptive “Carbon-Fluorine Spectroscopy”. Dr. Menaa collaborates with various organizations worldwide. He is a member of several prestigious medical and scientific organizations and editorial boards in the field of medicine, science, technology and business, including in the nano-segment. He has authored more than 100 articles including research and review articles, books, book chapters, textbooks, proceedings, and has participated to over 200 scientific international events including as co-organizer, keynote speaker, chairman. Dr. Menaa’s worldwide collaborations, holistic point of view and strong expertise in various fields led him to prevent, implement early diagnosis, and develop efficient and safer therapy.

Dr. Feng-Huei Lin was born in 1957 in Taiwan. He obtained his BS degree in Department of Earth Sciences, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, in 1980. After served in army for 2 years, he was invited to be a teaching assistant in Department of ES, NCKU, in 1982. In 1983, he joined the Functional Ceramics Lab in Institute of Materials Sciences and Engineering, NCKU, Taiwan. He was assigned to do the research in Bio-ceramic and Composite for Orthopaedics; where he received the training both in Materials Technology and Medical Science. During the PhD training, he was not only to take course in engineering school, but also in medical school; that included biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, pathology, anatomy… He was honoured as PhD degree with 12 SCI publications in November, 1989. In early 1990, He was recruited as an associate professor in Centre for Biomedical Engineering, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University (NTU); where he started his academic career. In 1997, he promoted to the full professor. He organized to setup the institute of biomedical engineering in NTU and served as acting director in the institute during 1997-1999. He was invited to be the first Engineering background director in Department of Biomedical Engineering, NTU-hospital (2003-2005). In 2005-2008, he back institute of biomedical engineering, NTU, as director. During 2006-2009, National Science Council, Taiwan, asked his help to be the Convenor of Biomedical Division to allocate the budget and to make the future planning in the next 10 years. In 2008-2012, he temporarily transferred to Biomedical Engineering Division, National Health Research Institute, as director and took in charge of Development of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. Now, he is the distinguished professor in NTU, Chair professor in National Taipei University of Technology, Executive editor of Journal of Biomedical Engineering (SCI) and International Fellow of International College of Biomaterials Sciences and Engineering. Dr Lin served as standing committee member in many international societies since 1996. He was permanent international advisory board in Ceramic, Cell and Tissue (CCT) (1998-2010); and served as the President in 2010. He was one of the standing committee members in WACBE (2005-) and council member in TERMIS-AP Chapter (2009-2011). He also served as editorial board members in many SCI journals, for instance, Biomaterials, International Journal of Biomaterials, International Journal of Biomater Resear and Eng, Journal of Musculoskeletal Research etc.. Since 1990, Dr Lin has published over 500 SCI papers, joined 11 book chapters, awarded 74 patents and transferred 21 technologies to industry to the final product. He expanded his research interests by discussion with clinical doctors 4 hours every week. His research is in scaffold for tissue engineering, nano-technology for drug and gene delivery, bio-nano-science for cancer hyperthermia, biomaterials for stem cell research, and hydrogel for vitreous body substitute. He is willing to cooperated with different kinds of researchers and scientists; and very happy to help young blood to do the research by sharing the knowledge, experience and lab tools. He is very experience both in academic research and industry to push the research fruits to the commercial product.

Professor Yung-Kang Shen received his Ph.D. degree from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1995. He has been a Professor of the School of Dental Technology at Taipei Medical University (TMU) since 2014. He has been a Chairman of the School of Dental Technology of TMU since 2018. He is also the Director of Bio-Medical Nano/Micro Forming Lab of TMU, the Researcher of Nano Tissue Engineering and Image Research Center of Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH), the Researcher of Sleep Research Center of Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH), the Researcher of the Department of Otolaryngology of Taiwan Adventist Hospital (TAH). He is the Chairman of Taiwan Oral Biomedical Engineering Association, the Supervisor of SME Taipei Chapter and the Director of Taiwan Society for Abrasive Technology. He is an Adjunct Professor of University Hasanuddin (Indonesia) since 2020. He is a Visiting Professor of Changchun University of Science and Technology (China) since 2012. He is a Part-time Professor of ShanDong University (China) since 2016. He is a Guest Professor of Zhejiang University of Technology (China) since 2017. Professor Shen is a project review committee member of the Ministry of Science and Technology (Taiwan). His research includes biomedical nano/micro forming technology, 3D/4D/5D printing, metamaterial, medical bionics design and manufacturing, scaffold fabrication, animal model for medicine therapy. Now, he has published more than 135 journal papers and 120 conference papers. Professor Shen has served as the keynote speaker or invited speaker at more than 27 international seminars. Professor Shen was awarded the Best Paper Award for the 3rd International Forum on Systems and Mechatronics in Singapore in 2010. He was also awarded the First Prize in Poster Presentation Award for the 2nd Research Week-International Symposium 2012 of COM on Dental Technology, Oral Health Care and Biomedical Device in Taipei in 2012. He was also awarded the Most Cited Article Award, 2012 to 2013 for "International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing" (SCI Journal). Professor Shen currently serves as the Editorial Board for Biology, Engineering and Medicine; Journal of Precision Medicine and Public Health; Open Access Journal of Science and Technology; International Open Access Journal of Translational Medicine and International Journal of Manufacturing Engineering. Professor Shen also served as the Special Issue Editorial for Special Issue “Application of the Biocomposite Materials on Bone Reconstruction” on Applied Sciences (SCI Journal).

Dr. Döppner is a consultant and independent research group leader in the Department of Neurology at the University of Göttingen, Germany. He earned his MSc at the Max-Planck-Research-School, Göttingen, and his MD at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Essen, Germany. He also has been a visiting associate professor at Medipol University in Istanbul, Turkey, and a research fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in the United States. Along with being a member of several professional organizations and a peer reviewer on many publications related to neurology, Dr. Döppner serves as editor of Brain Circulation and associate editor of the American Journal of Stem Cells and also of Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience. Dr. Giovanni Barbanti Brodano has completed his studies in Medicine and Surgery and specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology from University of Bologna, Italy. Since 2009, he is Medical Doctor at the Department of Oncological and Degenerative Spine Surgery at IRCCS IstitutoOrtopedico Rizzoli, Bologna, Italy. Dr. Alessandro Polini, Researcher, PhD in Nanotechnology, Degree in Biotechnologies. He has large experience in the field of biomaterials for tissue engineering, manufacturing and design of Organ-on-a-chip and LoC systems, materials sciences and microfabrication. Dr. Francesca Gervaso received her PhD in Bioengineering in 2005 and her Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2000. Since 2018, she is researcher at CNR Nanotec, Institute of Nanotechnology, in Lecce, Italy. Since 2013 to 2018 Dr.Gervaso has been researcher in Bioengineering at Department of Engineering for Innovation of University of Salento, Italy. She has co-authored 52 papers on international, peer-reviewed scientific journals, 40 conference proceedings, 3 book chapters and 3 patent applications.Her H-Index is 20 and total Google Scholar citations 1593. She has been coordinator of three national projects and since 2016 she is section Editor for the Biomechanics Section of the Journal of Applied Biomaterials & Functional Materials (JABFM).Dr.Gervaso supervised 35 MSc, has been co-tutor of 6 PhD students, and speakers at 20 international conferences. She is also promoter of two entrepreneurial projects focused on innovative customized solutions for the treatment of osteochondral defects and on an innovative process for the production of medical-grade chitosan. Dr. Maja Dutour Sikirić received her doctorate in 2002 from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia. During her studies, she has acquired experience and developed an interest in two important areas: (i) organic-inorganic interactions in crystallization, as related to biomineralization, and (ii) physicochemical properties of novel gemini surfactants in aqueous solutions and the solid state. She joined Casali Institute of Applied Science, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel for Post-doctoral studies (2002 – 2004), which were supported through an EU project “Surface Improvement of Metal Implants” andValazzi-Pikovsky Fellowship. Her work involved the development of organic-inorganic nanocomposites, to be used as coatings for metal prosthetic implants. After returning to Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb she has continued her work on organic-inorganic nanocomposite biomaterials as well as using dynamic light scattering for characterization of inorganic and soft nanoparticles in different biologically important matrices. She is a co-author of 56 papers in journals cited in WoS CC, 2 chapters in the book and 1 patent. Currently, she is a principal investigator of the Croatian Science Foundation project and a partner on an international project both dealing with calcium phosphate-based nanocomposites for hard tissue regeneration. In addition to scientific activities, dr. Dutour Sikirić is teaching at the graduate and postgraduate level at the Department of biology, University of Osijek. Dr. Guang Yang received her BS and PhD degree in Polymer Science from Wuhan University in 1989, and 2000, respectively. She visited Johannes Gutenberg-Universitaet Mainz Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow (2002–2004) and then Kyushu University in Japan as a JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) fellow (2004–2006). In 2006, she moved to College of Life Science and Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a professor. In 2010, she was a senior visiting scholar at University of Akron, USA. Marimelia Porcionatto is Professor of Molecular Biologyat Escola Paulista de Medicina – Universidade Federal de São Paulo (EPM-Unifesp), Brazil, since 1997. Presently, she is the Head of the Graduate Program in Molecular Biology at EPM-Unifesp (2015-2022) and President of the Brazilian Society for Cell Biology (SBBC, 2020-2022). She graduated in Biomedical Sciences (1984) and received her Ph.D. degree (1996), working on cellular and molecular biology and studying the involvement of heparan sulfate in the control of cell division (1996). During her postdoctoral fellowship period at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School (DFCI-HMS), she studied neuronal precursors migration (2001-2003). Her research group at the Laboratory of Neurobiology (EPM-Unifesp) seeks to understand how brain cells respond to acute and chronic injuries and neurodegeneration at the cellular and molecular levels. She was recently awarded a 5-year grant to develop 3D bioprinting and microfluidics platforms to mimic mammalian brain tissue, neurogenic niches, and blood-brain-barrier to study the development of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and stroke.

JaroslawPaluch was born in 1961 in Poland. In 1986 he received his M.D. degree from theMedical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland and from 1998 onwards he specializes in head and neck surgery. DrPaluch has obtained a doctor’s degree in 2003 (Title of Doctor’s dissertation: stereological estimation of cancer cells).Currently, he works at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice in Head and Neck Surgery Department. Hisarea of professional interests and scientific activities includes: neoplasm biology, microscopy and spectroscopy with near-atom resolution, application of synchrotron radiation in medical studies as well as novel allogenic materials application in reconstruction surgery. JaroslawPaluch is anauthor and co-author of multiple scientific articles;also he has submitted chapters on head and neck oncology problems for many medical books. DrPaluchhas made approx.150 presentations at international scientific congresses. Moreover, he is a co-author of several patents on bioengineering. In 2020 he was nominated to the position of Grant Project Supervisor in National Synchrotron Radiation Centre at Jagiellonian University in Cracow. The Project concerns cancer cells oxygenation and should be realized by 2023.

Gionata Fragomeni wasborn in Cosenza (Italy)in 1972. Hegraduated in Engineering at the University of Calabria in 1997 and received the PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Bologna in 2003. He was a temporary chair in Cardiovascular Mechanics and Mechanics for Biomedical Applications at Calabria University and Magna Graecia University. He is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro and teaches courses on Bio-fluid Dynamics and Artificial Organs. Prof. Gionata Fragomeni was the coordinator of two national research projects financed by the Italian Ministry of Research. Moreover, he is a reviewer of research projects for the Italian Ministry of Scientific Research and has authored numerous publications on international journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include Bio-Fluid Dynamics, Computer Modelling, Bioreactors and Cardiovascular Mechanics.

Qasem Ramadan received his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University in 2004; afterward, he joined the A-STAR/Singapore as a senior research engineer. In October 2008, he joined the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology/Lausanne (EPFL), where he worked in developing miniaturized in vitro models of the human gastrointestinal tract. In June 2013, he re-joined the A-STAR/Singapore as a senior scientist to lead efforts on developing micro-physiological in vitro models of human organs. In July 2019, he joined Alfaisal University/KSA as Assistant Professor of Research. His current research interest lies at the interface of micro/nanofabrication and biology, focusing on developing technologies for interfacing of living cells with synthetic systems, enabling new applications in tissue engineering and health care.

Dr. Jianxiong Zhu is an associate Professor from Southeast University, China. He received d Ph.D. from the University of Missouri Columbia in 2015. After that, he worked as assistant professor in Beijing institute of Nanoenergy and Nanaosysem. He also worked as postdoc in KAIST, Korea, and National University of Singapore for several years. Dr. Hettie is an NCI/NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Fellow (PI/PD) in the Departments of Radiology and Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery within the School of Medicine at Stanford University that specialized in the design, development, and implementation of near-infrared-I/II peptidyl-, nucleic acid-, and immuno-based activatable bio-/molecular probes, biosensors, theranostics, and nanoparticles targeting biomarkers of brain cancers and their tumor microenvironment for their early detection, direct visualization, and surgical removal via utilizing image-guided surgery. He focuses on their rational design, bio-/chemical synthesis, and bio-/analytical evaluation in both a basic science research and preclinical setting. He has a Ph.D. in synthetic bio-/organic chemistry and previously was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University pursuing nucleic acid-templated near-infrared-I (NIR-I) fluorescent probes.

Dr. Qanash is an assistant professor at the department of medical laboratory sciences, college of applied medical sciences at the University of Hail (Hail, Saudi Arabia). Dr. Qanash received a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in the medical laboratory sciences from King Abdul Aziz University (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) in 2008. He subsequently completed one year internship in hematology and blood bank laboratories at King Abdul Aziz University and King Khalid National Guard Hospitals (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) in 2009. Dr. Qanash worked as a special volunteer in Dr. Alter Harvey’s lab at NIH for certain times in 2017. Dr. Qanash then worked in Dr. Andre Larochelle’s lab at NIH for three years to finish his Ph.D. dissertation. Dr. Qanash completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in clinical laboratory sciences-hematology track from Catholic University of America and NIH in 2020. Dr. Qanash published several abstracts and research articles in Blood, Stem cell Research, Cells, and Biomedical Journal. His recent project entitled “Eltrombopag improves erythroid differentiation in a human iPSCs model of Diamond Blackfan anemia was published to Cells. Dr. Qanash’s projects have been accepted twice to be presented at the American Society of Hematology, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and Biology Graduate Student Research Symposium. Dr. Qanash received an ASH abstract achievement award for his project in 2019. Currently, Dr. Qanash is a head of training and internship committee at the department of medical lab sciences at the university of Hail. He is also working as members and coordinators in several committee at the college of applied medical sciences at the University of Hail.

Dr. Maruthapandi Moorthy was born in India in 1993. He is working as post-doctoral research fellow at Prof. Aharon Gedanken research group in Bar-Ilan University, Israel. He obtained M.Sc degree in Chemistry in 2016 from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Tamil Nadu, India. He received PhD in chemistry in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Aharon Gedanken, Bar-Ilan University, Israel.
