I was appointed by Singapore President SR Nathan to serve as a Nominated Member of the Singapore Parliament for a term of 2 ½ years from 2nd January 2005. I served as NMP from 2nd January 2005 to 19th April 2006. I was the only NMP during my term to have raised an adjournment motion in the Parliament. The topic of my motion was Singapore’s National Research and Development Strategic Thrusts. I was a Resource Panel Member of the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Resource Panel for advising Women’s Workgroups on Women and Leadership, Work, Life Skills and Socio-Community Development, and a member of the Assistive Technology Workgroup, Singapore Society for Physically Disabled

Weidong Zhu is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and the founder and director of its Dynamic Systems and Vibrations Laboratory and Laser Vibrometry and Optical Measurement Laboratory. He received his double major BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computational Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1986, and his MS and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and the University of California at Berkeley in 1988 and 1994, respectively. He is a recipient of the 2004 National Science Foundation CAREER Award. He has been an ASME Fellow since 2010, and has served as an Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Vibration and Acoustics and the ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, and as a Subject Editor of the Journal of Sound and Vibration and Nonlinear Dynamics. His research spans the fields of dynamics, vibration, control, applied mechanics, metamaterials, structural health monitoring, and wind energy, and involves analytical development, numerical simulation, experimental validation, and industrial application. He has published 271 SCI-indexed journal papers in these areas and holds seven U.S. patents. He is a recipient of the 2020 University System of Maryland Board of Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Research.

Dr. YuMing Zhang’s research focuses on intelligent robotic and human-robot collaborative welding systems. His research has been supported by the NSF, Navy, National Labs and industry, brought him 12 US patents, and over 200 journal publications. His recognition includes Fellow of the American Welding Society (AWS), Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME); Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research from the College of Engineering. Five of his graduate students won the IIW (International Welding Institute) Henry Granjon Prize on behalf of the US from IIW member countries’ national winners for dissertation/thesis research. Dr. Zhang is currently an Editor for the Journal of Manufacturing Processes published by the SME and has been the Chair of the Technical Papers Committee and Lead Principal Reviewer of the Welding Journal of the AWS.

Dr. Jianjun Shi is the Carolyn J. Stewart Chair and Professor in School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, with a joint appointment in School of Mechanical Engineering, both at Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Automation from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1984 and 1987, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1992. Dr. Shi’s research focuses on data enabled manufacturing, in-process quality improvement, system informatics and control. His methodologies integrate system informatics, advanced statistics, and control theory, and fuse engineering system models with data science methods for design and operational improvements of manufacturing systems. The technologies developed by Dr. Shi’s research group have been implemented in a wide variety of production systems, including automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, steel mills industry and produced significant economic impacts. Dr. Shi is a member of National of Academy of Engineering (NAE) of the USA, an Academician of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ), a Fellow of five professional societies, including ASME, IISE, INFORMS, ISI, and SME. Dr. Shi received various awards for his research and teaching, including the George Box Medal (2022), the ASQ Walter Shewhart Medal (2021), The S. M. Wu Research Implementation Award (2021), ASQ Brumbaugh Award (2019), The Horace Pops Medal Award (2018), IISE David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award (2016), the IIE Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award (2011), Forging Achievement Award from Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation (2007), Monroe-Brown Foundation Research Excellence Award (2007), the 1938E Award (1998) at The University of Michigan, and NSF CAREER Award (1996).

Dr Su Rong obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree from University of Science and Technology of China, and Master of Applied Science degree and PhD degree from University of Toronto, respectively. He was affiliated with University of Waterloo and Technical University of Eindhoven before he joined Nanyang Technological University in 2010. Dr Su's research interests include multi-agent systems, discrete-event system theory, model-based fault diagnosis, cyber security analysis and synthesis, control and optimization of complex networks with applications in flexible manufacturing, intelligent transportation, human-robot interface, power management and green buildings. In the aforementioned areas he has more than 230 journal and conference publications, 1 monograph, 14 granted/filed patents. Dr Su is a senior member of IEEE, and an associate editor for Automatica (IFAC), Journal of Discrete Event Dynamic Systems: Theory and Applications, and Journal of Control and Decision. He was the Chair of the Technical Committee on Smart Cities in the IEEE Control Systems Society in 2016-2019. Currently, he is a co-chair of Technical Committee on Automation in Logistics in the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, and chair of the Control Systems Chapter, Singapore. Dr Su is the recipient of 2021 Hsue-shen Tsien Paper Award from IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica, a Distinguished Lecturer for 2020 Chinese Conference on Decision and Control (CCDC'20) and an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.

Professor Yongsheng Gao is the Director of Australian Research Council (ARC) Research Hub for Driving Farming Productivity and Disease Prevention, and the Director of Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems at Griffith University, Australia. He was a member of College of Experts, Australian Research Council. As a Chief Investigator, he has been working on projects in Australia, Singapore, Germany, and China in the areas of smart farming, environmental informatics, biosecurity, face recognition, biometrics, image retrieval, computer vision, pattern recognition, and medical imaging. Dr. Bochen Jia received his Ph.D. in Industrial and System Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is currently an Associate Professor and serves as the Director of the Master of Science in Engineering Program in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Michigan – Dearborn. Kiarash Dogahe was born in 1993 in Rasht, Iran. He studied Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnicodi Milano, Italy. Since 2020 he has started to work as a scientific co-worker at the Institute for Materials Testing, Materials Science and Strength of Materials (IMWF), University of Stuttgart, Germany. The main area of his work is the investigation of fatigue behavior of metallic components produced by Additive Manufacturing methods.

Inès CHIHI was born in Tunis, Tunisia in 1984. She obtained her PhD degree in electrical engineering from the National Engineering School of Tunis in 2013. From the same school she obtained her "Habilitation Universitaire" degree in electrical engineering in 2019. Inès was a professor at the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technologies of Gafsa Tunisia, from 2013 until 2016. Then she joined the National Engineering School of Bizerta, Tunisia (2016-2022). Since 2017, Inès is also the founder and president of the Association of Energy Efficiency and the Environment (AEEE) and she is a member of the first Tunisian Network for Energy Transition. Inès is a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Program Unit of UNESCO. Since January 2022 Inès has joined the Department of Engineering (DoE) at the University of Luxembourg. Jong Suk Lee received his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology under the guidance of Prof. William J. Koros in 2011. After a year and a half of post-doc work, he spent four years as a senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology. In 2016, he joined the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering as an assistant professor at Sogang University and was promoted to associate professor in 2021. Kamel Barkaoui is full professor (Exceptional Class) at the Department of Computer Science of Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Le Cnam - Paris). He obtained his Ph. He is founder and SC chair of the International Conference on Verification and Evaluation of Computer and Communication Systems (VECoS).He was a Guest Editor for Formal Aspects of Computing Journal (FACJ), Journal of Systems and Software (JSS), ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems (TECS) , Innovations in Systems and Software Engineering - A NASA Journal (ISSE) and referee for several international Journals on Automatic Control or Computer Science. Kamel Barkaoui is currently Associate Editor for the International Journal of Critical Computer-Based Systems (IJCCBS) and for IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica and was elected in 2016 member of the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts (Beit alHikma).

Graduated as Electrical Mechanical Engineer at the National University of the Altiplano, Peru and has a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Londrina, Brazil. He is currently a student and researcher in the Doctorate program at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has experience in the areas of Generation, Transmission and Distribution. Acting mainly in the following matters: Transmission Expansion Systems Planning; Optimization of electrical systems; Series Capacitive Compensation in Transmission Lines; DC lines; Energy Storage Systems; Metaheuristic Algorithms.

Dr. Shimaa Al-Quradaghi is a Qatari Assistant Professor in Qatar University. She holds a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Central Florida; with a specialized knowledge in Sustainable Development. Her main focus is in Industrial Symbiosis and Eco Industrial Park. She is proudly the first Qatari female to hold PhD in Industrial Engineering. She published several researches, and participated in many international conferences. Dr. Shimaa is also interested in Engineering Education and Innovation.

Dr. Akhil Gupta received B.E in Electrical Engineering from Giani Zail Singh CE Bathinda in 1999. He obtained his M. Tech in Electrical Power Systems from Kay Jay Group of Institutes in 2005. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology in 2016. He has more than 22 years in total of academic and industrial experience and has worked at all academic positions (Lecturere, senior lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor) in engineering with reputed technical institutes of North India affiliated with government organizations. Presently he is working as Assistant Professor Electrical Engineering in I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Main campus (a constituent campus of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Jalandhar Kapurthala), Punjab, India. He has published more than 50 research papers in various peer reviewed and indexed National/International journals and conference proceedings. He has attended and conducted around 30 faculty and student workshops. He has published 3 patents till the date. Earlier to this, he has worked as Head of department Electrical Engineering at IKGPTU Batala campus.

Mikhail Lavrentiev, Professor, Information Technologies Dean at the Novosibirsk State University, Deputy Director for Science at the Institute of Automation and Electrometry SB RAS in Novosibirsk, Russia. Born on Sep 1956, married with a daughter. Over 300 research papers, including 3 monographs. Research areas include mathematical and computer simulation, applications for the Earth Sciences, computer code acceleration by using of modern computer architectures.
